Some few possibly are out and out frauds, using Christianity for personal gain.
A great many, I believe, think they really are Christians, with no idea of what the term implies.
Some are truly trying to live a Christian life, but get tangled up in all the different doctrines, and wind up being self-righteous and judgmental.
I think there are a few who do realize what following Christ is really all about. Getting "saved" does not mean you have arrived at your destination. It is only the beginning of the journey.
What is in my heart is hope.
What is in my heart is compassion.
What is in my heart is sadness.
What is in my heart is love.
What is in my heart is peace.
What is in my heart is eternity.

I think many people claim to be christian and probably believe their own claims but don't really realize what Christ intended to teach, if such a person ever existed. If Christ did exist, I doubt it very much that he had anything like Christianity and the church in mind. After all, if he did exist, he was just a pacifist yet rebellious jewish man, who did not conform to the political and religious authorities of that time. At least, that's my perception. Most christians do not practice what they preach, which is supposed to be what Christ preached, or so I assume since that is their belief system.

Culture and Society are different today than they were even a few years ago. None of us were there when JESUS walked the earth so none of us know exactly what he taught. we know from ancient writings, THE HOLY BIBLE and oral traditions what people believed but no person can say absolutely what JESUS taught. even members of the Christian Religion can not agree so this is another reason why along with culture and society we have so many different ideas regarding religious practices

Jesus is the way the life and the truth! This is the passage I found after I asked G-d the question:"What is the truth?" . Thats when I stoped searching and started learning from him!
Repentance is often neglected, while it is mostly important! Repentance does'nt mean regreting, it implies it but it's from the hebrew word "Teshuva" wich means: changing its ways, returning and answering. (the root of the word has many sence in hebrew).
So we need Jesus for atonement of sins, that goes hand in hand with repentance ( changing our ways).

Others could be.
But being Christian is not an instant thing like instant noodle.
It takes stages in life to make someone living a real Christian life.

I felt the power and presence of the Lord. I know He is real. I don't need to pretend. I follow the teachings of Jesus and try to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. I am compassionate and loving. I donate my money and time to help others. I know the Word of the Lord, live the Word of the Lord, and share the Word of the Lord.

Of course they do. Look at the entire Bush administration. They claim to be Christian and yet their actions are diametrically opposed to almost the entirety of Christ's teachings.

yes they do, they think saying their christian will make people think they don't do wrong. I have a neighbor like that. They swore at me and even moon me, I haven't done anything back.I believe I'm more Christan then them, and I haven't gone to church for years. You don't need to tell everyone your Christan, to really believe.

I think most Christian are not even aware of what Jesus Christ stood for, what he believed in, what he preached, and about his life.
