You learn to love yourself as you are or change what you don't like. Either is perfectly acceptable! I know how you feel though. I was 200 lbs and so embarrassed to shop. I did 2 things. The first was to shop at a "big woman's" store like Lane Bryant. At 200 lbs I was actually one of the smaller women in there shopping and it was a bit of an ego boost, not to mention the clothes there really are beautiful and they were made to fit MY body. It was hard to walk into the store, but once I got in there I felt safe and cocooned, I just didn't shop near the windows. :) That worked for a while and then I finally decided to lose the weight. Today I am 169 lbs, still nearly 15 lbs overweight but it's a big improvement. It all comes back to liking yourself though. Sometimes you just have to get a little thick-skinned.

I am a little over weight myself and I have to buy big sizes. It used to bother me, but now I have a method. When I go to the dressing room to try on something I hide the size of whatever I am buying. Like if it is on the hanger I fold the tshirt over it. Vwala nobody will know. Then if I like the piece of clothing enough to buy it I will look for the heavest casher. If all are lucky, and skinny then I just have to suck up my feelings and go for it.

Hopefully I have helped you in anyway that I can.

Well I'm a chubby girl and I have to buy big shirts, but my problem is also my...upper area, it's large as well lol Don't worry about what other people think, you should wear the size you need to wear regardless of anything. If you wear too small of the size its.. not good, you will not look right.

I work out at least once a day to get rid of that feeling. You lose some amount of weight or inches every week. XL shirts are too baggy on me now and my muscles are starting to pop out a bit more, though I'm a 12/14 still. (Mommy...four times...in six years!) You can do it. Just tell yourself what you want to do it for and then do it. For me it's health related first, then body image, then additional benefits are icing on the cake.

Never be ashamed of being a bigger size, I'm at XL and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'd be almost disgusted with myself if I was at a petite size because I can't stand looking at the plus model types of people.

Try going to the store and returning it, most stores take returns. If this doesn't work then go and buy another shirt and drop the old one off at the salvation army.
