The bible is a book, and that book was written by man. Think of all the other books man has written. Some have lasted and some haven't. You know what they you don't believe everything you see, so why believe everything you read.

The bible does contain some extraordinarily profound truths. Unfortunately, the people who are most likely to quote the bible do not recognize or respect truth. They have been brainwashed by dogma that subtracts the truth and warns them against using their own intelligence.

For example, God warns Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. What could the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil be other than believing you know what is good and evil? Fundamentalists have been taught that there was a literal tree and that the fruit was an apple. Thus the truth has been turned to garbage. Fundamentalists say everyone is a sinner who has done evil because of this dogma. They pass judgments on people instead of loving them. They consider themselves good because they obey the dogma they've been taught. They don't understand that the serpent who feeds them the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is the religion they have swallowed. They think that faith is believing the unbelievable instead of respecting the holiness of truth. They don't realize that they could heal the world with love. They think anyone who doesn't believe as they do will be tortured in hell forever. They are prepared to enter a holy war with fundamentalists of other religions.

If fundamentalists just once read the bible without blindly accepting interpretations they've been taught by their religion, they would weep at the beauty of the truths they've ignored.

Absolutely. The Bible is absolute truth. It has been proven to be extremely accurate archaeologically, often historically, and even in some cases, scientifically.

Keep in mind, that the Bible also contains symbolism. The dragons mentioned in the Bible were often visions that had been given by God to men. You have to understand symbolism in literature to fully appreciate all aspects of the Bible.Even more it helps to have the Holy Spirit teach you and reveal the book as you read. If you ask earnestly, He will do it.

Ivan Panin, a Russian mathematician in the early 1900's studied the underlying numerical codes of the Bible. He issued a challenge in the Chicago Sun Times for anyone to disprove his findings of the numerical codes. No one could. In fact, the Nobel Prize committee issued a statement that he had indeed proved that the Bible had to be written by God Himself.

The recent study of Bible Codes during this "computer age", has allowed many to verify that the Bible must be of divine origin to have so many underlying codes. They all tie this "book" together although written over millenia by many men (via divine inspiration). These occur not only throughout the Old Testament, but also the New Testament.

Read the book "Cosmic Codes - Hidden Messages From The Edge of Eternity" by Chuck Missler. It will blow your mind! It can be ordered from the website below.(www.k-house.org)

hey:}
well id like to know why we all are suppose to say these odd things are the truth but yet anything else that is written /witnessed could not possibly be ????
it seems like christian faith believes and interprets everything just as they want to but anything else is all lies or they say oh that's a fantasy or the devils work .....
the fact of the matter is it is a book with truths and with fantasy /imagination just like all written books by man .books can be altered and truths can be misleading and interpretations can be varied .
it isn't like there are not some truths to the bible but so are there truths in other written books .....
anyway that's my thoughts on the matter .
as they say don't believe everything you read or see .

There are true things in the Bible, but of course also lots of mythology and lesser fiction. Needless to say, the whole god, creation, heaven, hell, devils, angels, souls, and miracles thing is fictional.

Not for a second. people don't live to be 900 years old. Donkeys don't talk. Snakes don't talk. Zombies don't climb out of their graves and walk around. People don't get swallowed by fish and live inside them for three days.

Some people just don't have the ability to distinguish fiction from non-fiction.

Getting truth from a bible is like trying to squeeze custard out of a weasel's butt.

Anybody who takes it as true a priori is cheating themselves. Do a little research. And that includes getting the opposing point of view from legitimate scholars.
