My friend gave me some paint but it is for outside. Can I use it on my inside walls? Thanks so much!

Exterior paints are softer than interior paints. They are designed to endure all weather conditions and temperatures. The outside of a house expands and contracts with temperature changes. Inside paints dry harder, to allow washing and to protect the paint from occasional bumps. So, you can use it, but it would be better to at least use a top coat of interior, in the same color.

YOU DEFINITELY CAN! AND I HAD NO FUMES, IT'S LATEX ALREADY! I DIDN'T USE A TOP COAT EITHER. I PAINTED MY ENTIRE INTERIOR WITH IT INCLUDING THE WOODWORK AND DOORS. IT LOOKS SO NICE ESPECIALLY THE WOOD PARTS, IT REALLY BRIGHTENED IT UP. I KNEW IF I PAINTED IT THE OFF WHITE COLOR I WANTED I WOULD HAVE TO SCRUB IT OFTEN WITH KIDS IN THERE. IT WAS YEARS AGO AND STILL LOOKS GREAT! YOU CAN CHECK MY BLOG AND GET A LOOK AT SOME OF IT IF YOU LIKE. JUST REMEMBER YOU CAN PAINT EXTERIOR 'OVER' INTERIOR BUT NOT THE OTHER WAY UNLESS YOU PRIME IT FIRST. I DID THAT IN ONE ROOM AND HAD STREAKS. HOPEFULLY YOU CAN GET IT ON SALE BECAUSE IT IS USUALLY MORE EXPENSIVE. HAVE FUN, YOU'LL LOVE IT!

Of course you can. You just can't use inside paint outside and expect it to last very long, that's all.

Contact the paint manufacturer and ask them. Below is link to Sherwin-Williams' FAQ.

I would say 'yes' since paint was free to you. In future, why pay extra cost for paint that will never see the weather?

Yes you can, but not the other way around. Be sure to have plenty of ventilation.

Sure, if you want to die of the strong fumes, then go for it!
