African-Americans have a very unique texture of hair. It's a lot more delicate than some people of other races. Meaning that if African-Americans wear their hair in certain styles or use chemicals or products that are too harsh for their hair type, their hair will be damaged much more easily than someone of another race. It is also harder/ takes longer to repair damage to ethnic care in some situations because it requires so much maintenance on a daily basis.

As a result people interpret this as African-Americans hair growing slower than whites, etc. There are some African-Americans hair that grow faster, longer and healthier than whites. In the end it really depends on the person. Hope this helps :)

Hi, Im a student in the field of cosmetology,

Nothing can really make your hair grow longer. Ive looked. But there are things you can do to help it. And your color doesn't matter.

One thing is that if you straighten or use irons on your hair, like myself, deep condition your hair ALOT! I do it two to three times a week! Even if you dont have a deep conditioner you can use regular conditioner on your hair for an hour or more, this also works nicely. My hair became really strong after this.

Vitamins help too! Take a multivitamin and a vitamin B-complex.

Do not color your hair alot! It weakens your hair causing it to snap off. If you do need to though, dont forget to condition, condition, condition!!! Dont forget bleaching! That is one of the worste things you could do!!

Cutting your hair doesnt make it grow faster!!! All that does is remove the split ends.

Massage your scalp regularly, this helps with growth!! It helps circulate blood flow in the scalp, with premotes hair growth.

Hope this information was helpful :)

It's not that it's hard to grow... All the chemicals they use to relax their hair damages it and drys it out, which causes it to break more easily. Natural is the way to go!

Because curly hair is naturally harder to grow out, and that combined with the use of so many chemicals will slow it down a great deal.

well,i'm 1/2 puerto rican and my hair seems the same 4ever!!but my 1/2 sister(all white)told me that if you put your hair in a pony tail it grows faster.i have found this true.the reason it grew faster is because as you come your hair back and put it back tight so it will hold, you are pulling your hair out buy its roots,so it makes it grow.i've been do'n this lately...and its true,i just got my hair cut last month and it has already grown 2 inches.the average hair growth for human hair is 1/2 per every 6 months.so cheat, put the hair back.

~good luck help this helps you,it helped me.
