It's an excellent resource, full of good tips, tools and advice and even shows demonstrations of proper exercise and strength training techniques and it really got me motivated after years of demotivation. I don't what it was about this site, but I've been exercising nearly everyday since I started it.
I've lost 10 lbs so far, been on it for 2.5 weeks!

I am in the same boat... so I'm anxious to see your responses!
I find that I have to change a lot of things at the same time, and that works best when I am not on a regular schedule. My most successful attempts have been after a deviation from my normal schedule.
For example, I have a nasty soda habit, at the same time every day at work. If I am travelling for a week, I go back to work on Monday and cut out the soda, since I'm "re-adjusting" to my schedule. I do really well, until I think I'm out of the habit. After a week or two, I'll have a soda. Then I'm right back in the rut. The key is never going back to the bad stuff, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet...
Good luck!

Instead of doing exercises for the purpose of losing weight, how about doing exercises you enjoy doing just for the purpose of doing them?
On the other hand, your brain needs mental exercise too. Work through your thoughts, beginning from , "I don't like .... myself, exercise, etc...." Most of your negativity/being critical stems from 'repeated tapes' you hear often enough. Once you articulate them, verbally, silently or in written form, you have won 1/2 the battle! this is mental purging. You don't advice on how to 'make yourself' do the exercise. After the mental purging, you might be motivated enough to find healthful things to put into your brain and body, the kinda stuff you already know.
Your opinion on your current state of mind is as common as anyone else. Mental purging is a skill. My idea is just a 'tool'.
Try it, it might work.

Dont do regular exercise. Take up a kick boxking class, or some other class. Take up hiking, make it a point to be more active.
Go for nice walks, shoot hoops with the guys, that sort of thing. once you get used to more regular activity you wont feel so sluggish and turned off by the thought of exercise.
Another great idea is to literally roll out of bed onto the floor and do a few sit ups and push ups. You'll have a fwe reps of each done before you really wake up, so you wont have time to talk yourself out of it.

Me, too, the idea of a planned 30 minute workout makes me grind my teeth. But ya gotta do it............... whatever your end goal is, make a poster, hang up the dress you want to wear so you look at it the whole time, copy your theme song onto a cd and play it while you work out, whatever it takes, but you have to get off your butt and exercise to lose weight. Just do a fast walk around the neighborhood, 15 minutes out, then you have to walk 15 minutes to get back.
After a week, it's gonna be easy and you're going to laugh you were fighting it so much.

first off it is something you have to really really want to do to be able to do it. Can't let nothing step in your way of acheiving your goals. Some people suceed more with a friend. Do you know a good friend that is also wanting to better themselves if so team up. compete against someone and have a reward in the end results. If it is something you want to do on your own then you are going to have to disapline yourself and just do it regardless and once you do you sure will feel good about yourself.
good luck!!!

That's how I felt the other day. For about 3 weeks, I didn't exercise but then one day I just forced myself to get on the treadmill and I have been back in my routine since.
You just have to make up your mind that today I'm gonna do it and the next day it becomes easier.

I hear you. Exercise is boring, I know. Do something you enjoy, don't call it exercise, and you're more likely to do it often. Remember any activities you used to enjoy no matter how trivial it may have seemed. Once you're active in something you enjoy, your energy will increase. You may find yourself looking for more exercises because you want to.
