As far as I know there is no place in the Bible that addresses this situation directly.

1 Cor. 6:9 - Our body is a temple - given to us by God. In my opinion, slapping yourself on the face is an assault against yourself - you are slapping the gift that God gave you. - suicide is murder - you are taking away the life that God gave you.

However, the Lord is a loving and merciful God - he will judge fairly. If you know a person who committed suicide, do not be concerned for their soul. Who better to understand than God? He knows our trials in this life and he will never desert us. It is us who deserts God. I have been in deep despair before and during that time I felt that God really cares for those in such turmoil. He really understands. Everything he does is for us, for our benefit.

I encourage you to read your scriptures daily and pray and as you do you will come closer to having the answer you seek. Feel free to contact me if you like.

You are an ex-Christian--you say that on your webpage. so why are you so obsessed with Christianity and what Christians think? Sounds like you did not find complete "truth" in Christianity, and now you are trying to "save" the very people you left. Meanwhile, you are searching for another "truth" because you are too weak to stand on your own two feet. Get a life! Look how many minutes and hours and days you have wasted your brain power on feeling sorry that you were a Christian. You can't leave it alone, can you?

It doesn't and I don't believe that you do. It's still a sin, but just as with all sins except blaspheming the Holy Spirit, it would be forgiven if the person had accepted Christ as his Savior.

However, the Bible does talk about varying degrees of reward for the Christian and it would probably count against the person in that regard.

It doesnt mention anything in the bible about going to hell after commiting suicide. The only unforgivable sins are rejecting Christ (Mark 16:16) and blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

The scripture in no way says that those who dedicate suicide bypass to hell. that's a preparation from the catholic church that they base on the theory that that's inaccurate to kill in accordance with different scriptures. First onteh suicide situation. In severe college I had a godo pal dedicate suicide after a breif tramatic ailment and stated it with a ninety y/o preacher who defined it this way. To him it made experience that a loving God who might want to sacrafice his son to pay for our wrongs like the scripture demonstrates does no longer deliver threat free people to hell for moves taken even as they're insane or incapacitated mentally- God created people with an overpowering insitct to do what ever it takes to stay, to live to inform the tale etc. If someone has develop into so mentally disturbed that that organic God given intuition is not any longer functioning then that human being has no responsibilty for his moves. In different words oftentimes surely mentally unwell those who're no longer responsible for his or her moves dedicate suicide- there is a few who do it to flee punishment yet they're the exception. now as to do no longer kill - the more desirable proper time period/traslation and actual be conscious used in hebrew is do no longer homicide. The circumstances stated above are not from now on homicide ( to purposfully and willfully deprive the existence of the threat free with out reason or justification). Scripture is sparkling that the killing of animals for our use is proper- that conflict is proper if justified, that weeds and different flowers, animals are not from now on created in his image for this reason are stay interior an analogous way we are- it truly is not the taking of innocnent existence etc. if that were the case what might want to we eat? even to %. an apple and eat it kills it! wish that helps

Genesis 9:6 Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.
Exodus 20:13 You shall not murder.
1 John 3:15. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. And you know that NO MURDERER HATH ETERNAL LIFE ABIDING IN HIMSELF.

Taking a human life unjustly is apparently forbidden because God created man in his image. According to John if you murder you do not have eternal life abiding in you. So I think any fair reading is that if you kill yourself you are not saved. The only alternative is you are condemned.

i understand that belief to be derived from "your body is the temple of God" and therefore destroying it would be a great sin, possibly or probably leading to hell. There is no direct statement that suicide sends you straight to hell in the bible, although there are statements like I mentioned that would infer the seriousness of it and make you wonder about your fate.

I will tell you this, in case it should be of interest to you - in Islam, it DOES say directly that committing suicide (for whatever reason) will send you to hell. In fact, the punishment will include re-committing the suicidal act over and over.

Jesus says sinning (or 'blaspheming' in some translations) against the Holy Spirit is the one unforgivable sin. It is known as 'mortal sin' in theology. Suicide is considered sinning against the Holy Spirit because it means one has despaired and lost trust in God and in the Holy Spirit so much that you have not trusted in the Holy Spirit to save you and help you while alive. It represents the complete abandonment of hope and therefore of God and of the Holy Spirit. For this reason it is considered that suicide is unforgivable, and that it can only result in directly going to Hell.

Here are the verses:

Mark 3:22-30 states,

"And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, 'He has Beelzebub,' and, 'By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.' ...'Assuredly, I [Jesus] say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation;' because they said, 'He has an unclean spirit'" (NKJV, emphasis added / Note: The Pharisees made the same charge in Mat 9:34.).

In Matthew 12:31-32, Jesus says to the Pharisees,

"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come" (NKJV, emphasis added).

It does not say it directly but think about it yes I know you said not to use the verse Thou shall not murder but think about it if you commit suicide you are also committing murder and if your committing murder you would not have time to ask for forgiveness do you understand what I'm saying

There is NO such verse in the Bible... It's a Roman Catholic teaching and, because it has no basis in Scripture, is therefore a lie like many of their other teachings...
