I hate it when people use the word "basically" excessively - in meetings, while trying to explain things.. in an attempt to make what they want to say simpler and easier to understand -
"well basically.."
"basically it boils down to.."
Ugh.. irritates me. Especially if what people are explaining isn't "basic" at all, rather it involves a long-winded discussion on topics that make me want to fall asleep in the meeting room. lol

Curse words - especially when they say f*** 4 or 5 times in a sentence. It's out of context and has no meaning. There are plenty of words in the dictionary to use - choose a variety. I believe intelligent people use intelligent words.

I hate it when people prounce the word height with a th at the end. The word is height people, not heighth. It also bugs me when some says "axe" me a question instead of "ask".

i think the word "hate" is wildly overused. im constantly hearing people say that they hate this or that. hate is a very strong emotion. to me, if you hate someone or something, you feel so strongly that you would do anything to make it go away, including killing. now, how does that pertain to getting annoyed with someone in traffic or a food that you dont like? i think people dont think about the impact of their words. it seems to me like people say things that they dont even know what they mean. i dont allow the word hate to be said in my household. they are allowed to say that they dont like something, or that they dispise things. but hate is not allowed.

Uh or Um. Irritates me to no end - sounds like they're stuttering. Figure out what you want to say before you open your mouth, damn it.
If you expand this question to include phrases, I could send you a whole dictionary of corporate nonsense jargon that I get treated to on a daily basis that makes me gnash my teeth.

Perse. It seems like every time they have a chance to stuff it in a sentence people do. I think they are just trying to send intelligent and it actually has the opposite effect.

Not so much a word as a phrase. When they end every sentence with "like you know." I can't stand that.

When someone mispronounces a word, any word, it irritates me, but one word in particular that our "illustrious" president consistently mispronounces, and I keep wondering why his wife, who is an ex-librarian, doesn't correct him.
That word is nuclear, and he pronounces it "nuke-u-lar" every single time. ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! Mrs. B, if you're out there and you're reading this, PLEASE CORRECT THE MAN!!!! He looks really stupid, more than usual.
