My father in law has back pain, blood in urine and a "mass" or something in his stomach. He had a test which initially said there was something in his stomach but that's all the doctor's told him. They are planning on doing more intricate tests on him but they scheduled it three weeks after the first test. I thought that maybe since they didn't schedule the follow up test right away, they don't think it's that life-threatening. Anyone know of anyone who has had these symptoms and what did it turn out to be?

I wouldn't jump into any serious conclusions until the tests are all done and the results are in. If the symptoms get worse, make sure he goes to see the doctor right away instead of waiting 3 weeks for the test schedule. Meanwhile, let's hope for the best possible outcome for him.

Be hopeful yet don't put it out of your mind completely. I work for a surgeon and we see a lot of cancer patients. To be honest yes it could be cancer, it also could be an aneurysm and he just happens to have blood in his urine at the same time. We frequently schedule tests for patients a few weeks out, it depends on the hospitals schedule. I know it is very hard on the patients and family to wait that long but the doctor takes his time and explains to them that a few weeks isn't going to change anything. (unless it's end stage in which we would push things along). Good luck and remember if it doesn't sound right go for another opinion.

Could be kidney problems. That would explain blood in urine and back ache.Don't know what the mass could be...maybe scarred tissue from an ulcer or similar. I'm not a doctor, just guessing.I know you want answers right now,and how hard the wait is.I had similar problems with my parents.Look on any of the health sites.Sorry I can't be of more help.Hope it's not serious.Good luck

Don't work yourself into a state.
It could be anything.
I wouldn't speculate either way. Just accept it for what it is. There is something there and you'll know soon enough.
I know it's easy for me to say, but from experience, if you dwell on this, the anxiety will eat at you.
Try not to think or worry about it, just have a "wait and see" approach.
All the best. My fingers are crossed (which will explain any typing errors I've made)
