I believe it's dangerous to add or take away to the Scripture, or bend the Bible to mean what one person feels like having it mean. Every part of the Bible is important, and inspired.

Those who skip the scriptures in the bible probably have some skeletons in their closets that they don't want to know about and think that they can get away with it....they might with a human but we all know that God watches over everyone...and as he says in the bible he even knows every hair that falls from your head....Some people do not feel guilty about the lifestyle they choose probably they think that God put them there for a reason...so if it is a good lifestyle...why not enjoy it while the going gets good....for others, they might choose those kinds of lifestyle cos they are not ready to give up and feel that they have but only one life to live!!! Those people may not even be Christians at all or may have given up their religion for obvious reasons....

I agree that anyone who wants to take the written word as law should have to take all of the written word as law, and not just pick and choose.
Personally, I disagree with using the bible on that kind of basis. If people want to look at it and take some general messages away from then that is good, but when people start getting into specifics like Homosexuality is an abomination, but ignore the other abominations (touching the skin of a pig, wearing clothing made of different materials, etc..) then they are quite simply wrong.

Most people read some books thru and thru but the most important book of our life time they have never read. Some parts are difficult to understand. But the first book Genesis about man's beginning everyone should read for himself.
Then start reading 4 gospels accounts of Jesus life and ministry.
4 different mens eye witness accounts of what happened.
It was amazing to me there were so much alike written in different places at different times. Makes me know what they wrote was accurate. Then started reading the entire new testiment. Went back and studied and read the entire bible and I was amazed at the things i had been taught that the bible simply didn't say. Was not in there but was a church teaching.
If you don't read it, in its entire book you really don't know what it truly says. Just read a few chapters every night. The psalms got me through many bad times. If your depressed it is a must read book.

You cannot pick and choose which sections of the Bible you want to believe in - the Christian faith is founded upon the whole truth of God's word, and none of it can be ignored. If you do, you are denying the truth and denying God, and it is often from this that so much false doctrine is spread. Those who twist the true meaning of the Bible, which is often much clearer and explicit than many would have you believe, will some day stand condemned.

I totally agree with you. Many "Christian" sects do just what you are saying. They preach about one thing and ignore others. For example: I needed an operation and our friends told us that it is forbidden to get blood transfusions, by the bible. I could not find her reference. But she missed the part in Joshua, about women staying out of religion. She also missed the part in Timothy about not piercing your body or wearing pearls. So she did just what you said. I do not believe you can live totally by everything in the bible. But if you do skip something then you should not make believe that did not see other things. Do what you think is right. And do not be influenced by these Bible quoters.

No it isn't right. All thought Bible was given for us today. However, people do take some scriptures out of contextt. For instance, "Judge not that you will not be judge." That is the only Bible verse that most people know. Taking it out of contex, they use it when people try to lead them to God.

NO it is not ok. The bible is not multiple choice, neither are the ten commandments. It is all or nothing. You are an obedient chrsitian or you are a chlld of satan. There is no fence to stand on.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Psalms 119:116 Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.
Psalms 119:6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

Yes, because the Bible is not a complete "Guide for Dummies" to religion. You can--of course--take what is good for you from the Bible. Compare to Islam where they memorize the entire Koran and follow every little rule, and if they do not follow every little rule then they have violated their own religion. You have not "violated" anything by skipping some sections of the Bible.

How about this one: [ Children that curse their parents.
"For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall surely be put to death." ] Couldn't we try spanking first?
OR
[ 20:10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. ]
Did you forget about those? If not when are you going to start killing sinners? Whats the matter not a good enough Christian to "actually" follow the bible?
