This morning while reading the news, I came across this. I just had to cheer, and show it off. To all the young girls and teens who think that they are too fat, read this.

It basically says that Spain has placed a ban on excessivly thin models on the catwalks. It mentioned that in a recent Barcelona weddding dress show, any women under a US size 8 could not model. The new rule for the entire country is that any model under a BMI of 18 will be banned from shows.

So when will the rest of the world catch up and notice that these underweight women are role models for young girls, and it's not always a good thing?

My favorite part of the stories is the last lines of the second link:

Brown of the Elite agency said fashion shows reflect the tastes of clothing designers, who for now prefer the Kate Moss look as opposed to the curvier dimensions of models such as Cindy Crawford in years past.

"They don't want voluptuous girls any more," he said. "It would be nice if fashion got back to that."

To enginerd:
Don't you think that after many years of short and average sized women being told they aren't the ideal, it's time to let the overly skinny girls know that they aren't it either?
I don't think it is discrimination, if you read the whole article, it shows that they are talking about health issues, not just looks. A BMI under 16 on most women is a very unhealthy thing. It can lead to many problems, and there are some women who look like that only because they are doing something unnatural to stay that way. It's not their body that they have by nature or DNA. It's diet pills, eating disorders, or something.
It's time for the world to wake up and see that women can be beautiful at any size, not just a 0 or 2.

As a larger lady i think this is great. also, as i have a young daughter, i would love for her to grow up in a world where she will be accepted no matter what size or shape she is.

Singapore isn't a rustic and they are lower than chinese administration. Taiwan and Spain are nevertheless very low and eire isn't to some distance behind the different 2. Taiwan can be a lot larger in view that they do have a really sturdy capitalist device marketplace yet wages are very low. Your united states of India is an analogous way!

although anybody in their right mind knows that the current emaciated high fashion models are a ridiculous model for beauty, it won't help to have some government trying to regulate modeling

it is just as likely to backfire and make that image more impressive to young women

families can make a difference

parents can teach their children what it means to be a healthy happy beautiful person

interfering governments passing ridiculuous un-enforceable laws will not help and probably won't hold (so naturally skinny women are prohibited from modeling, sounds like discrimination to me, whats next discriminating against tall women?)

Cool. I liked the girls bust with that pic, but the rest of her was pretty anorexic looking. The fashion world has always been really wacky anyways. I don't mind looking at it as art, but I could never see anyone wearing even a quarter of what they show off.
