The Pope is the authority of the Catholic Church.

The Pope was the authority until the Reformation. So for most of Christianity's 2000 years, the Vatican (in one form or another) was the authority. This probably means that the Protestant upstarts are just wrong wrong wrong. hee-hee By the way, I love the Episcopal Church in the USA.

The Catholic Church thinks that the Vatican is the authority. They put tradition and the word of the pope ahead of the Bible. One of the titles of the pope is "The Vicar of Christ", which translated means anti-Christ. When you read the Bible, and than see what the Catholic Church says, they are in opposition on many points.

The Catholic Church has become so corrupted over the centuries that I believe everything its leaders do is for their own glory, not Gods. The Pope instead of being merely a spiritual guide and leader has become an idol himself. Kissing his ring and bowing before him?? What?? I can understand showing him some respect, but I thought the only name/"person" we are supposed to bow before is God? Not Mary, or the saints, or the Pope and any of his subordinates(archbishops/bishops/priests,etc.).
I am not anti-Catholic, or anti any other religion, but when people begin worshipping idols or humans, and editing the Bible and Gods law to suit their agenda's and needs, they have crossed the line into blasphemy. Don't you think???

I think they think they have the authority. After all the Pope is, according to the Catholics, iinfallible. He may as well be Jesus himself sense he makes no mistakes.

They are only the authority because the people (Catholics) give them that authority.

What they sayers (say Peace & Safety in law worketh wrath) author is more law law, biblically called a latter end (last state of man) being "worse"-end rather than "bettered". Converted Peter, in 2Peter 2:22, refers to both male and female (such like as johnny law law in Revelation, who turned back to law, behind him), as if a sow turned back to her mire(law) after being washed, or a dog turned again to his own vomit: law.

It doesn't get any more DAH (Law Law: more the child of hell than former adult hypocrites, fools, vipers, and blind guides who sat in Moses' seat: law law) than turning back to law, again, after being "delivered from the law" (Rom 7), and as answered prayer: Our Father, "deliver us from evil" (Mt 6).

But not hopeless yet, rather still hopeful if Mary Magdelene had "seven spirits" cast out of her adult state was obviously a "worse"-end rather than bettered, till she encountered the grace and truth of JC sent unto her from God in heaven: higher than the (law law) heavens; Who did NOT send his Son to condemn(law) the world, rather to save the world from law law.

So, endure unto "the end" to be saved(only) by grace(only):

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
