You can go to a salon and actually get your hair chemically straightened. You'd have to keep up with it every month or so depending on the new growth. I have a girlfriend who does it. I never even knew her hair was straightened until she asked if I could do it for her (I finished cosmetology school not too long ago) since she couldn't get in with her hair stylist for weeks. Her hair doesn't look over processed either. Do you know if you like the look of your hair straight? If you haven't straightened it already with a flat iron I would try that first. Make sure you protect your hair with some hair drops prior though anything basically with silicone in it (like Paul Mitchell "skinny" serum or Biosilk) and also a heat protection spray that is spritzed on dry hair prior to the flat iron (silk results by joico is great) good luck.

If you decide to do straighten your hair make sure that you get a very good straightener. These can be fairly expensive upwards of $400.00.
If you pay for a cheap one, all you're going to end up with is dry hair with split ends.
Personally, I wouldn't try the straigtener. You have cute bouncy curls. Make the most of them.

Definately, heat and all chemicals including hair spray damages the hair, you just have to keep it trimmed to keep it healthy. Use a manual straightener it won't frizz like the chemical one will. This way you can have both. Yes it is a pain to straighten all the time. But atleast you can have your hair both ways without the harsh chemicals.

Well, if you straighten your hair and it doesn't work out or it doesnt look good you can always wash it out or put it up, but if you get heaps of knots, when you do wash your hair leave in the conditioner a bit longer than usual, and repeat.

Pay for the service of a good professional. Sometimes, that initial fee is worth the time it would take you to go to a low-end salon that pretends they know what they're doing vs. actually doing it.

go to some respectable salon to get your hair done, after which spend some money on hair care products. If you want great hair, you gotta pay for it.
good luck! =)
