Forget the daft small cars and go for a slightly older but much more fun Japanese large sports car eg Mitsubishi GTO twin turbo, Lexus Soarer Twin Turbo. If you got full no claims bonus the insurance is not too bad and you'll have something thats as reliable as the new cars but will get you noticed a lot more and is so far superior to drive you'll be asking yourself why you ever considered anything less.

The Ford Focus 1.6 is the best one to get for reliability and fuel. It shouldn't cripple you on the insurance either. There is a sporty model with the 1.6 engine, impress the ladies.Volkswagen Golf 1.9TDI is a very good car and can shift. Reliable too and not bad on the juice.A Toyota Corolla sports model is an excellent car, always coming out top in surveys. Renaults are only average for reliability. Renault Clit........

Go to British Car Auctions (BCA) Choose a new car day. You will find almost new cars for half price. You will use your car for a year and then sell it for what it cost you. I got so good at working auctions, that I made 10,000 pounds a month out of that hobby. All car dealers buy from auctions, yet Joe public is proud to say, "I will never buy a car from auction." The best cars I have ever owned came from auctions. Buy a VW Golf V6, it's the most exciting car on the road. Okay, insurance, Buy a Cleo sport. In auction you should be able to buy at a fraction of the normal price, research is the key to free motoring.

Try looking for a high mileage relatively new sports car. Cars with high mileage will look good, look new and also be fairly reliable (if well looked after during the previous mileage) if you do not intend to do high mileage in them. Also check out the level of insurance group for the sports car. A car like a Mazda MX5 has a relatively low insurance group for a sports car.

It would suit you sir!

Because of your age you need to consider the Insurance aspect so I would consider the Focus/Astra/206/307

Be careful if the car is modified with the insurance and if you keep the engine small but the car looking good then you will same money

Your budget will buy a 2001 Audi A3 and if you got the diesel version that would be best - something a bit different from the run of the mill golfs and focuses.

I suggest you buy a brand new car looking at £5k price coz some companies give you free insurance and you get 3 years warranty coz its a new car, plus it realiable and sometimes 0% int with a used car, u have to worry abt insurance, tax, servicing, mot etc.. which u dont want. trust me.. i prefer new cars... hope it goes ok.
