You shouldn't really want to train your dog to fear cars as she wont go near your car if you ever want to take her out for a drive. You need to encourage her to walk along the side of the road. First of all walk her on a lead until she gets use too where she should be walking and then let her off with out a lead and encourage her with treats and she will eventually learn. Just a bit of time and effort from both parties but you will eventually get there.

We had the same problem. Our dog eventually got hit although not serious. We leash trained him and spoke to him about the street and cars. Believe me they understand. Leash your dog and make him sit before allowing him into the street,on the leash. Also the type of dog matters.
If all else fails consider and electronic fence or fence the back yard andlet him/her run there.

You need to walk the parameters of her boundaries with her on a leash. Then walk around with her NOT on the lease, being firm with the tone of your voice. Say NO when she goes out of bounds. If she won't come back to you, physically bring her back to the boundary and continue walking. Vary the strength of your "NO"to the severity of her disobedience. Then, stand in the middle of the yard watching her and saying NO whenever she is even thinking about going out of bounds. It will take time. If that doesn't work, you will have to tie her up when she is outside for her own safety!

I would get one of those invisible fences till your dog knows where it should go and where it should not. I know that some owners think that they are mean, but what would be worse, a little high pitch noise, or a slight spray, or getting hit by a car and possibly suffering and not dying right away?

You must contain the dog with a fence and walk her with a leash. You can never be 100% sure she or he will not be tempted to chase a cat or dog or squirrel and your dog will be hit. Too high a price to pay I think

no is a good start on a pinch collar if he is big enough he will associate the pinch with the street. another good way to make him afraid of something is to make a really obnoxious noise when he gets near it, another way would be walk him around his area and let him know he has boundaries, you are the pack leader and need to show him his area and when he goes out of it scold him and tie him up for a while. a kennel is another answer for you if you want to put one up and when he does that put him in it he wont want to go to the bad place and may stop it.

Be sensible! Seriously people have a bit of common sense, why would you get a dog to fear cars? So that you cant get her into your own car? Or maybe so that she becomes impossible to handle near roads? Rather, put her on a leash when near roads, and if ur determined to not take care of her, find someone who will!

she will be hit by car. Must keep her up or walk her on a leash. If she is hit you are subject to pay for damages to the car.

Build an enclosure for her, its safer. Take her for walks around the boundary of your property and try to teach her not to cross those lines. Worked for me. Reinforce this several times a day until she gets it right.
