Well first off all your GP should off sent you up to your nearest hospital for a x-ray to to rule out its not a fracture. You need to go bck to your GP and tell them its no better and he should either send you for an x-ray or refer you to the othopaedic team or to give you inflammatry tablets. You may off pulled a small ligament or torn the muscle arond the joint.Theres not alot which you can do to make this better as you use this joint alot, and resting it is hard to.Go bck and see another Gp and get a second appion.Good Luck

It would be useful to know what you have been playing. If it is a sport such as rugby (thumb injuries are common) then you may just have had a dislocation or a strain. If it is a musical instrument then it sound more like repetitive strain injury, in which case, rest and some physio would work well.

I think it's time you went back to your Dr and explain you've waited and have been doing exercises on it. Maybe you need some physiotherapy on it. Do you recall a particular thing you did to it?
I started getting sore fingers at the joints last year and was discovered to have arthritis. I'm not saying you have this but I think you should go back to your Dr as it's not improving.

Maybe get a second opinion from another doctor. See if maybe you've done more damage to the thumb since the original diagnosis. Good luck!

i've got discovered an identical undertaking. somebody asked the place they might purchase hair weaves. I responded with a google map showing the place the shop became into, and reported which prepare station became into closest. somebody gave that thumbs down, too. LOL, it did no longer difficulty me, I basically theory it became into unusual, and somewhat unhappy that somebody might think of my answer became into so undesirable! It wasn't like i became into giving an opinion, to which you should disagree, which i think of is lots greater straightforward activity for a thumbs down. What became into the question to which you responded and gained a thumbs down?

You don't say what it is that you are playing but I would give it up if I were you.
