During tennis practice this morning, a middle aged man with his son introduced himself. After practice, we chit chatted for a while and suddenly from nowhere this guy asked if I am from a particular caste. I said politely no but soo wanted to ask him what the f@#$ is the difference?
What's so big deal about caste and why are people in India still obsessed with this damn thing? It's everywhere- in some places it's subtle and in others it's rampant. It's like racism in other parts of the world like USA, UK, France and Germany. Indians make a big deal about racism and racist remarks while in foreign land but why whining about racism when we have this ominous cloud called caste right on our heads. First we should clean up our act and then shout at others.

No, it's not appropriate! The caste system is shameful. Assigning any value to it is backwards and ignorant. This guy seems so clueless, I am surprised he didn't ask you about your bank account or your credit score, too. Hopefully his son will look at the world a little differently. Some people have just have no social skills.

Lmfao @ Ding. it relatively is great!! sure, the trolls are uncontrolled, or extra wisely they look on top of problems with this place. it relatively is ridiculous, and you're so precise. If Y!A in basic terms had extreme questions maximum persons does no longer worry showing up, a minimum of no longer on a popular foundation, and then the place would Yahoo get $$$ from. Advertisers does no longer pay for a internet site no person used. The device sucks.

Of course it is not appropriate. But I am just wondering whether it is possible to be casual about it.If a Christian was asked to which denomination he belongs would he be annoyed?
If nobody thinks one caste is superior to another, people will not be sensitive about it.
Politicians in India capitalize on the caste system .It gives them an opportunity to project themselves as champions of the lower castes
