A gift certificate to somewhere like Bed Bath & Beyond would be nice. Or maybe Macy's/ Marshall Fields. Someplace where they can go shop for some new things to put in their place. Assuming they live together, if not they will be soon. :) Good Luck

depending on the family & the cu lture - the engagement party is usually something that's a little more couple oriented and more the foo-foo things - crystal vases, bowls, candlesticks stuff like that. my personal recommendation -- get a nice pictyre frame for either a 5x7 or 8x10. if you're not sure how they are going to decorate get a simple galss/crystal one - nothing that screams wedding but.... nice and tasteful. if they ar drinkers the other thing is a bottle for their bar with come nice csyrtal or cut glass bervage glasses.

I would say to get them something from Bath and Body Works. That store has tons of candles that smell awesome, along with massage oils and other nice things. They even have gift baskets. Good Luck.

Gift certificate to Bed, Bath and Beyond or some home store like that. That way the can buy anything they want or need...like pricey luxury sheets for the wedding night.

I agree with Marysia, engagement parties are usually about romance and non-essential gifts. Housewares and things come at the wedding.
If you have one in your area, go to Things Remembered. They have an entire line of wedding and engagement gifts. Then they can take it back and have whatever they want engraved on it. That way it's something you picked, but they still have a chance to personalize it.

Picture frame, wine glasses, photo album, name plate for their house, a clock, whatever you want to spend, they have something in your budget, starting at $10 going all the way to several hundred dollars.

Depends on how well, you know the couple do you know what their favorite store is? Do they have a home together? Mayby look at getting a gift voucher? Or talk to their relatives to find out what they might like.

If your pocket permits why not purchase a not so expensive cruise trip, a day on a beach hotel or a dinner for two.
It would be romantic!

A photo album is nice too. Or something that will help them for the big day--like matching his and her planners? ;)
