so as to save power consumption

It is done only when during dawn and dusk cos if the cabin lights rr on the amnt of light outside the plane would be less than that of the cabin. So if there is an emergency(if the lights rr on) it would take time 4 the passengers eyes to adjust to the level of light outside the aircraft(since the amnt of light changes). Also in an emergency there rr low power bulbs that guides one 2 the exits so if lights rr on one would have a tough time tryin to look at the low power lights. And the guyz who say that power is conserved rr mad. If there is a low power light in wat room can u see it better in a dark orr a lighted one?

Take off and landing is the most dangerous time. the light is turn off so that incase of emergency you will only see the light coming from the low indicator light, that shows the direction going out of the plane.

Forget about that "available power" nonsense. Most jet aircraft don't take off at max power anyway so theres plenty of electricity available to power a few lights. The reason? It makes emergency exit lights more visible in the even they are necessary. Exit lights stand out more in a dark room than in a lighted one.

The plane needs to use all possible engery for take off and landing, so by turning the lights off that is one extra thing that is not running... in turn that energy can go towards take off/landing

Two reasons:
1. To reduce light pollution, allowing pilots a better visual
of the taxiways/runways.

2. To acclimate passengers vision to the outside lighting
in case an evacuation is needed. Will be easier to
see the outside conditions and what they are stepping
into.

To make pax eyes used to the light level in the event of an emergency. Engines done lose power from electrical systems being on.

I think because the plane uses so much power during these times so all the power can go to the engines.

So that all the power from the engines is used as thrust and none wasted on non essentiall equipment during the most dangerous part of the flight!!

"some" airways? Who does not try this? in the (admittedly no longer likely, yet greater probably at those cases than others) case of evacuation, human beings would be greater able to be certain what they are doing.
