AVG, 7.1.405 it tells me update Unsuccessful and it can not check for new up dates I have read alot but no luc

I have went to the form and I have read so much about other people haveing the same problem such as can't uninstall to reinstall - tryed a roll back no luck a long time a go you use to be able to d/l a newer version and it would replace the old one (not any more) anyway I would like some good advice --AVG is a good program - I need to know what regerster keys need to be taken out- also what can go worng and what should I look for
