First off Congrats on getting your stuff in any show and displaying your stuff to the public! If YOU are proud of your work don't sweat it. Ansel Adams had critics who didn't like his stuff. Our craft is so subjective there isn't a photog out there that EVERYONE likes. Listen to the criticism and take the constructive stuff and try to use it.. the rest of the stuff is just an opinion blow it off and keep shooting. As long as YOU are satisfied wiht your work who cares what others think. That is unless you are shootin fro an editor or a customer and you will have to care about what they think. if it's a display or exibition of YOUR work that YOU like let the world see it and be proud of your work! Keep shooting, keep trying different subject and styles/techniquies and keep getting better! Good luck and happy shooting!

It's only natural to feel this way. It's a culmination of all your hard work and fear of the unknown. I am sure you will do fine and 10 minutes in you will have lost most of those nerves.
Folk are really kind you know! I used to have an antique stall years ago and I remember the first time I set it up. I was so, so nervous, but as soon as people starting talking to me about my stall the nerves just vanished into thin air.
Good luck with the exhibition!

How old are you?! And you haven't observed that almost ALL people get some kind of nerves when confronted with potentially open opinions from the public, public speaking, museum displays etc.
It's simply human nature, there's nothing weird or strange about it.
I think what's more likely is you're using this forum as an advertisment to come see your exciting self portraits (why else give us the unnceccessary info?). I for one, will be there, front of the queue, waiting with anticipation for the aesthetic treat I'll about to embark upon.

You're nervous because your art is personal - and showing it to the world, especially for the first time, is like standing naked before strangers. It's a difficult thing to endure - being critically judged in this way.
Relax - most "critics" don't understand what they're seeing anyway. Your confidence will have an effect on how they view your art, so stay cool and enjoy the limelight.
And good fortune with the show.

I think you are afraid of critism or being poked fun at. But personally these photos must be good to be able to display at an exhibition. Seize your moment of lime-light, stardom and glorified 5 minutes of fame. Its a great opportunity to show locals how talented you are.
Congratulations and good luck!

It is a personal investment. Being nervous is a necessary collorary to this.
The most surprising thing I have found in exhibiting pictures is how ininterested most people are and how little they really look at what is on display.

Put a price on your floral displays - if you sell any of them, you are successful.

You are nervous because you think that the photos are who you are. Let me assure you, you are not your photos! Be they the best or not, YOU are still the best and we all know this. Right? Congratulations in advance, I know you are the best.
