Ebonics... AND they can't pronouce anything greater than 3 letters other than "Discrimination" "Racial Profiling" and "slavery".. anything else is a mixture of clicks pops and slang.

hi there,
to answer ur question, SOME black people may have a problem pronouncing it cos English is not their primary language, and it's a borrowed language, so if they make some mistakes while using English words, it should be expected. such mistakes are as a result of the african accent, which in turn is a result of the way african languages are spoken.
and second, not all black people have the problem.. u'll be amazed to know that some well-educated blacks speak clearer english than some whites.
hope this answers your question.
cheers

Your generalization sounds kinda closed minded. yet... there is a few actuality to it. people who do pronounce it as "awl" (aks) probable pronounce it that way with the aid of fact their mum and dad did. And their mum and dad reported it that way. This is going back to first era slaves who have been so unjustly taken from their close by Africa so white people ought to be lazy. The languages they spoke probably lacked any /sk/ phoneme, yet having /ks/ phonemes they truthfully substituted it to create their very own, completely intelligible pronunciation of the understanding ask. edit: hats off to Malutka, i did no longer even evaluate a historic version pronunciation. I did see a great documentary on dialects of yankee English that defined the origins of the diverse traits and idioms of African American vernacular, and various of them hint back to African Languages. possibly the alternative for the alternative style "ax" replaced into in part prompted with the help of their close by speeches

I know you aren't asking for a real answer, but I feel compelled to do it anyway...lol...I am Southern and the Southern style of speaking is lazy....you are fixin' to do somethin'...that sort of thing....and slaves came from the South, so they learned to speak through Southern people...it's just been passed on through the generations. Ax is easier to say than ask
