Perhaps if demons exist, they're just encouraging people to believe that the dead aren't really dead. The dead are dead though. The devil is a liar. We do really die.

If scripture says samuel returned to speak with Saul, how can you say he didn't. It puts the premise of your question in doubt. I do not know everything, but I do know that scripture records that the witch of Endor called up Samuel. It does not say a spirit or demon or ghost or goblin etc...

I love you, I really, really, do-not feciously. Your guess though, is sort of like saying it snows every Christmas, it is snowing, therefore it is Christmas. I know the concept of spirits or ghosts is a difficult one, and one we do not fully understand on this side yet. Perhaps one day. Scripture says it is given for a man to be born once, die and then the judgement. I know Paul said to die is to be with God, but he did not exactly say when his dying would become being with God or where. It may be immediate for the good to be with God but I wonder? You do not die immediately after you are born. By the same token I THINK it may be possible that you are not immediately judged-key word being immediately. Mt 27:52 tells of the dead being raised to life and verse 53 tells us they went into Jerusalem and appeared to many. There are other examples too, what about Lazarus who Jesus raised? Or when the apostles saw Jesus on the mount talking to Moses and Elijah? Or maybe we get judged soon after death and I say that because the most ancient religions believed the spirits of the dead hovered near their decaying bodies for 3 days. And if that is not true, isn't it funny that parapsychologists tell us that over 99 1/2 % of all ghosts, phone calls from them etc occur within the first three days after a person dies, a few a week to ten days later and almost none after that! Hmmmm, I think what many call ajudgement after death may take place 3 days later--notice too that it was on the third day Jesus rose. God has laws for everything in the universe and we simply don't know all of them yet. Pondering that has made me wonder why other ghosts are seen much, much later-for example those of civil war soldiers, still fighting or injured. That does not sound like heaven. Either those are projected emotions on the atmosphere the way our image can be produced on film or like our voice on a tape recorder, or they are ghosts. I do not know which. I would say though that you are on the right track about demons wanting to mess with peoples beliefs and heads tho, so what I am saying is I believe some of the "ghosts" people see are real, some are taped so to speak, some are demons. Now the reason I included the 'some are demons" is because some ghosts do things we don't like-a good ghost or spirit would not. Also, they are not all reported to look alike either. Some are stronger perhaps and look like people but some are black forms of people or are only partially there. The latter are probably the film category and just did not make a strong enough impression, but the real ghosts are either human looking or in a dark human shape and those can't be good. I don't think all of the fully formed ones are either. That goes back to power or strength again. Perhaps some people that were super good are allowed to come and go like Moses and Ellijah have done. Perhaps there is a degree of good to obtain that reward, there may even be lesser degrees that only allow certain numbers of visits or at cettain times, I don't know-won't know till I get there. Now you said "if demons exist", Oh make no mistake-they do. What is more I don't think all demons are without a human body. I think people like Hitler, some Pirates and slavers, the Ed Geins, and Jeff Dalmer type of people have to not be all themselves: inotherwords possessed-there is another or others in the body with them. Remeber the story of "Legion"? The devil by the way is a demon. One of highest rank. And how could say anything was good if there was no evil to compare it to. That is part of why we must know there are demons-because there are good angels and good people and good God. Now to the part about we really do die. Myself, I wish that were true for some people rather than to see evil exist any longer, but no, we do NOT die. We live forever. Only our bodies die. Think about that. Our bodies are just our space shuttle right now, our vehicle that takes us around to the places we have to go to learn and do things. When it dies, we cross over to somewhere. Our bodies are just like a christmas present and when you open it and throw away the wrapping, US is the prize inside that comes out goes on and on-us forever. Whoever you are, the you in you that thinks and feels and right now has to look through eyes and feel through human flesh will be freed to enjoy Paradise when your work here is over. There really are no dead, only dead bodies and we really never die. The devil must have told you that lie! Smile.

Ghosts are not figments of the imagination, but are manifestations of demons. You are correct in stating that they are the result of the trickery of the devil. He devises such trickery to lure people away from Christ and into false religion by getting them to believe that they can talk to the dead. As far as I know there isw only one true incident of a living person talking to a deceased spirit, and that is related in the Old Testament where Saul employed the witch of Endore to conjure up the spirit of Samuel. See 1 Samuel 28:7-16

Confused ? Demons are Demons, entities entirely different from Ghosts though most ignorant Evangelical Christian types lump them all together. Actually if you ever did pick up a Bible, the true testament starting with Genesis you will find all the answers that you need. Demons are clearly separate from Ghosts. The Bible contains some of the earliest Ghost Tales - - - beings like wisps of smoke, memories of ancestors the earliest of inhabitants of The Earth often offering guidance or answers. It is all rather complex but Demons are malignant Spirits, a few serve Satan, but others are simply evil insidious creatures preying on the weaknesses & fears of humans. Peace.

No, the dead do NOT really die, no anymore, since Christ rose from the dead. It's like he left a big gaping hole where a locked door once stood. It's possible that ghosts might be dead people. YES: they might be figments of our imagination or they might be demons. Nobody really knows, and you can't trust them to ask them. One thing that remains true about the Old Testament view of the spirit world, it's really stupid to contact spirits. They will probably just lie to you anyway. And they could do worse!

If it were so, then the Holy Spirit which they used to call the Holy Ghost would be a demonic figment of our imagination, but the Holy Spirit is NOT a figment of our imagination. The Holy Spirit is REAL. And the Holy Spirit is God so the Holy Spirit is NOT DEMONIC. See what I'm getting at here? :) Have a super great day.

We are not really sure of all the details of what happens at death. The bible gives us the information God wants us to have to live our lives here and now. There remains much that is a mystery.

If you are feeling that you are being bothered by forces that seem demonic to you, I recommend that you seek counsel from a clergy you trust as well as through prayer.

May you be blessed and delivered from evil (if indeed you have encountered it.)

Not according to the Bible record at
(Matthew 8:28-33) When he got to the other side, into the country of the Gad·a·renes′, there met him two demon-possessed men coming out from among the memorial tombs, unusually fierce, so that nobody had the courage to pass by on that road. 29 And, look! they screamed, saying: “What have we to do with you, Son of God? Did you come here to torment us before the appointed time?” 30 But a long way off from them a herd of many swine was at pasture. 31 So the demons began to entreat him, saying: “If you expel us, send us forth into the herd of swine.” 32 Accordingly he said to them: “Go!” They came out and went off into the swine; and, look! the entire herd rushed over the precipice into the sea and died in the waters. 33 But the herders fled and, going into the city, they reported everything, including the affair of the demon-possessed men.

And
(Luke 8:26-34) And they put in to shore in the country of the Ger′a·senes, which is on the side opposite Gal′i·lee. 27 But as he got out onto land a certain man from the city who had demons met him. And for a considerable time he had not worn clothing, and he was staying, not at home, but among the tombs. 28 At the sight of Jesus he cried aloud and fell down before him, and with a loud voice he said: “What have I to do with you, Jesus Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.” 29 (For he had been ordering the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For over a long time it had held him fast, and he was repeatedly bound with chains and fetters under guard, but he would burst the bonds and be driven by the demon into the lonely places.) 30 Jesus asked him: “What is your name?” He said: “Legion,” because many demons had entered into him. 31 And they kept entreating him not to order them to go away into the abyss. 32 Now a herd of a considerable number of swine was feeding there on the mountain; so they entreated him to permit them to enter into those. And he gave them permission. 33 Then the demons went out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd rushed over the precipice into the lake and drowned. 34 But when the herders saw what had happened, they fled and reported it to the city and to the countryside.
