watching tv is a want not a need. Needs are something that are key factors to survival. Somethings are waste of time. but things like watching sport and finding out the latest news are very useful. People watch television for entertainment purposes most of the time when they can be doing something more important.

If you failed your exams because you were watching tv, then that's a time management problem that you need to address. Most of the time, TV is not a waste. I watch TV because there are shows that I really like, but I do something while I'm watching it. I fold laundry, catch up on correspondence, pay the bills.. something while I'm watching TV..
You don't have a TV watching problem, you have a time management problem. If you knew you had exams, you should have been studying instead of watching TV.

Television is a good invention but very distracting, like Yahoo Answers and sometimes you just can't tear yourself away from it. I'm terrible with the TV. If there's an issue that I just don't feel like dealing with at the time I'll blot it out by watching TV for hours. So I have to keep telling myself to remember that REAL life happens away from the TV screen and then I have to make the physical effort to press that button on the remote that turns it off.

Yes I think it's nearly a complete waste of time. Everything except basically the news or educational things alter our perceptions about life and our psyche. We mindlessesly tune into situations or 'real world' reality shows that are nothing like the real world. People who sit and watch these shows all day and talk about it usually make the impression that they can't find anything better to do with their time and they have personalities to show for it

it is not too bad to watch television but you have to choose what you are watching.
All I watch is sport and all the other stuff are wasting of time.

Television is Satan's tool. It will entice you with trivial pursuits and render your mind a mush. Idle hands are the work of the devil. Not to mention the loss of physical activity. Throw it out the window and curse it as it leaves.

I find the time spent here 'entertaining' & not wasteful.
If you failed exams because of TV or here, yes, it's wasteful.

depends on the type of show. if your watching discovery channel or the history channel like i do. that's educational. you don't gain any intelect by watching reality or the next star type shows. then it would be a waste of time.
