"When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you,do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out these nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God." Deuteronomy 18:9-13.

The Bible calls it witchcraft. It is condemned in both the Old and New Testaments. Look at 1 Samuel 15:23, 2Chronicles 33:6, and Galatians 5:19-21. Any time that you try to get things done your way rather than God's way, then you are employing witchcraft. Witchcraft is the tool by which the devil corrupts human kind, in that he convinces people that they can get along just fine without Christ. In John 15:5, Jesus says:....without me ye can do nothing." Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. Without the vine, the branch cannot produce fruit and will wither and die. The branch is the source of life for the vine. Thank you for asking this question. God bless you and Jesus loves you.

The bible??? Why don't you make your question toward those who actually wrote and edited it!
I feel William James' "Variety of religious experience" can answer some of yor additional questions, in a way that he shows the psychology of divination in the individuals who actually claim to have experienced it... which must be quite close to what was meant by the authors of the bible (still, I say bible is more or less not the original words of such people, but kept the experience of it).

Old Testament, book of Leviticus chapter 19 Verse 26 says: "Do not practise divination or sorcery."

That seems fairly clear.

The Holy Qur'an condemns divination as being something of witchcraft and majik. It says there may be some truth in it, but over all there is more bad in it than good.

However, God do give visions, dreams, and at times spoken to individual in audio voices.

But again, all those special means are not to be taken as theological procedure that God need to reveal to us in that manner alone. He is almighty, and have his own way on touching us.
