i have done this several times and it worked for me, the dogs feel at home and that is good, when you bring the cat home, keep the dogs and cat separate for a few days so the cat can adjust to her new home, and bond with the new man in her life.. once the cat is adjusted and feel comfortable, handle and cuddle with the cat, the go to the dogs and spend time with them, let the dogs smell the cat on you and your wife, then go back to the cat and let her smell the dogs on both of you. then bring the cat and one dog at a time into the same room, be low key and let both the dog see each other, [dog should be in leash and under control
and let them look at each other for awhile, while both wife and husband are there to supervise the meeting, let the dog and cat meet on their own terms, keep things around both animals relax and with soothing tone [calm also] tell dog and cat this is [name] and see how things go most likely they will watch each other and check each other out, the cat may hiss and run away but be patient eventually they will get close to each other and bond
[then bring the other dog in and do the same thing] and they will work it out themselves,] both dogs and cats will accept each other once they realize that it is ok for them to get along, it is their home and family.........

I have done this in the past and things worked out. What I did was bring the cat home in my arms. Bent down to allow the dog to smell the cat for awhile and petted the dog at the same time.
held the cat and played with the dog. There will be a little hissing and a little nervousness by both sides and a little fighting. Give it two weeks and things will calm down. Do not let the cat hide from the dog keep them both in the open of the house. Both you and your wife show no favoritism on either they can pick up on that. Being adults it will be more territorial. GOOD LUCK! have patience.

the day of the interaction your dogs must see you interact with the cats..that way they e'll know that the cats won't harm you ,your wife or themselves,( this is not about the dogs killing the cats or the cats scratching the dogs, that's why you are there) they probably 'll get very nervous, an anxious...salivation and all that stufft..however dont' aloud them to stay together in the same room alone, specially if you or your wife are not in there, while you are making the first introduction...hold your dogs also...don't let them go straight to the kitties, hehe, if not your cats will die, they both are so lovely. and we dont' want anyone get hurted,well.anyways..as I told you ,you should hold your dogs and your wife the cats, then you hold the cats and your wife the dogs...the idea is that dogs and cats see you both taking care and interacting with all of them...that noone will get harmed and that these "new "and "never seen before" "beings"( the dogs for the cats and the cats for the dogs) are not there to attack or bite the other specie.Slowly and every day do the same until the point that you can put the dogs or cats close enough to smell each other or even touch each other..the next days try doing the same but add something else to their interaction... you should try anything to make them feel in peace, comfortable and to stay together and not to harm to each other...for example after the dogs see the cats, you can go and touch your dogs "lovely" talk to them..I dont know , just do anything you normally do to make them feel loved by you and your wife, then do the same with the cats, give them some food, etc.it'll take time maybe but it'll work, we have cats and dogs ..they were not born together...and now they kiss each other, smell and play together. write me to my email if you need some more advice.
bye and good luck.

This will be difficult unless your dogs are used to cats. The adult cat will see them as intruders and will be indignant to find your dogs at its house. In the meantime your dogs will be marking out the new house as their own territory and they will probabaly challenge the cat's presence on its return home. Maybe if you and your wife show that the cat is part of the family by feeding them together and giving them all the same attention, the dogs may start to regard the cat as part of the pack ... but as for the cat well, I don't know.
But, it has been done and I'm sure there are more informed people who will answer your question. Congratulations on your marriage and here's to a happy home.

You might want to put the cat in a carrier, or put the dogs in a carrier, and then slowly introduce them to each other. Make sure the dogs know that you like the cat, and that it won't hurt you, because they are probably trying to protect you from anything they think will hurt you. Those breeds of dogs are very aggressive so you will probably have to take things very slowly.
Good luck! :)

I have a question for you! Has your dogs ever seen a cat before? How have they reacted? Have they seen small animals? How have they reacted? If the answers are "negatively", you have a major problem. I suggest leaving your cat at Mom's...you'd feel worse is somebody, specially you or your new wife, gets hurt in the middle. Good Luck.

Well! if I'm any judge of animal's I would say that dogs really like cat's. Having said that, I would add that they couldn't eat a whole one not on their own! But you have two! that should tell you something. Leave her cat at her mothers as TWO dogs will gang up on it and tear it apart! no matter how you introduce the feline to them. Believe me! dog's are pack animal's. Hope you solve your dilemma.

I put up a saftey gate (like a child gate) between them and let them kinda get used to seeing each other. Then let the dogs out but kept them on a leash to smell the cat... all that stuff, and sooner or later they were fighting they were playing, and now were one big family!! Hope that helps
