If you are naive enough to think that cows are actually allowed to graze out in the field in this day and age of factory farming you are living in a fantasy world of cow heaven, my friend!
Cows do NOT eat grass!
Cows are force fed God only knows what kind of unnatural products in feed, laced with antibiotics and other man-made chemicals to encourage milk production or bulking so that there is more meat on the animal at slaughter. The bigger the cow, the more money they're worth. And they spend all their time in a very small space, not much bigger than they are, with about enough room to stand and lay down. I doubt they even have enough room to turn around in there. The less space required, the more cows they can get into the barn!

They may be not fat, just big. And they eat lots of grass. And they may become fat because proteins and carbohydrates (and grass mainly consists of them) in the organism are transformed into fats.
