being Christian, it's also very important to know these things

Holy Water is water blessed by the priest

The Priest drops Holy Water in Funerals on the person who died and each person will drop Holy Water on the Casket as well. He also Drops Holy water on our head in Mass when it's a special Occasion. Also used importantly in Baptism because it will rid of Original Sin and the baby will be blessed and become a member of God's family...

Water is taken to the Priest and he says a prayer and God's bleesing are represented by the water

It came along when Jesus turned Water into Wine...God blessed the water and turned to wine so they did it for generations but by the Priest because he is a messanger and Follower...

:) :) :) :) :)

Anyone can bless water. Just say a sincere prayer over it. There are other ways to bless water, too. For example, some people take saffron and spell out a prayer in an earthen dish with it and pour water into the dish... that blesses the water and it becomes holy.

There is an interesting film about quantum physics called "What the *bleep* do we know" which discusses in one section how a photographer used an Electron Scanning Microscope and took very extreme close up pictures (on the molecular level) of water from a Japanese river. It seperated it into various samples, some being normal, blessed (by having positive words taped to the container or having a Buddhist monk bless it) and some cursed by subjecting it to negative words. The physical properties of the water samples actually changed based on the positive or negative influences over it. The positive blessings made the pattern of the molecular structure of that water sample into a beautiful patter. Negative influence made the molecular structure of the water ugly and violent looking.

The conclusion was we are made up of 71% water and our molecular structure (and therefore attitudes and behaviors) can be shaped by our environment and mindset at the molecular level.

Therefore, blessed water can make us more beautiful people based on quantum physics! :-)

Holy water is water that has been blessed by a Catholic priest. It is used when you enter the church you take it and do that catholic cross thing across your body. I don't know how it came along, probably the Catholic form of baptizing. And it probably came across because of Biblical references to water as a purifier, baptising as a purifier, or Jesus or God being referred to as the well of life. But it is a Catholic thing and I don't believe in it because I'm not Catholic. So I could be completely wrong... hahah

Every other Christian religion ( and maybe Catholics, I dunno) have holy oil. You can bless Holy Oil yourself (you can just use olive oil) and use it to say, protect your house. Some times houses are "haunted" or really posessed, and this aids in removing the them and keeping your house safe. Once the house is annointed one time with Holy Oil you should be good to go. Also, you must be a Christian and have Christ as your savior for it to work!

Holy water is blessed water, it's made by a priest who blesses ordinary water. It's used as a sacramental and a remainder of our baptism, people dips their finger in it and make the sign of the cross "In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit", in God's name in which we were baptized.
Elisha made holy water in the Old Testament, as did Aaron.

Holy Water is water that has been blessed by a Priest. Wiccans have something similar, but ours is blessed and consecrated with salt, and has had a little chant said over it.
