As promised i am posting my answer. I know i'm late but better late than never. My answer is
If the person goes to the old lover what is the guarantee that misunderstanding doesn't happen again. But first love is always first love the old love may have left this person but if the person leaves the old love what difference will be left out between them. So this is the only possible means visible. If the person goes with old love he will ruin three lives first the new love's second his as he will feel guilty throughout his life for spoiling other persons life. Third the old love's who won't be happy cause seeing the person unhappy. The same applies if he goes with the new love. So one way is he goes out of both the lives. That way there will be some chaos for time being but the dust will settle in the end. I hope this was more than self-explanatory. I hope you like it and its just my perception.

sounds to me like the old lover is just jealous that you've found someone new that cares about you. I would say stick with the new one.

The old love is only after you because they cannot have you. Come on!! it took three years to figure out that they are "still in love". Old love already burned their bridge. The New love obviously has a better understanding of you and accepts you for who you are. Espically, after old love is trying to wedge their selves back into the picture.
