If I had to deal with just 2 days of torment to get an eternity of heaven I would be a happy man.

Americans POWs in North Vietnam, as an example, went through far more torture and pain than Christ ever did. That's to say nothing of the Jewish people during the holocaust.

Because prior to Jesus, they had to sacrifice animals. After Jesus, no more animal sacrifice. So I think sacrifice is used metaphorically in this case....

LOL.. check this guy out! He is comparing the war in vietman with the crucifiction of Jesus! My God, so much stupidity in he world..

1) Check why wars happen
2) They volunteered to kill
3) kill so you won't be killed
4) The torture was far different

Jesus was GOD! Check the ancient Roman tortures to see what he went through and why HE CHOSE to go through all that... You would be dead only from the beating far before getting whipped

The blood sprinkled on the mercy seat once a year by the Jews on earth was animal blood but the mercy seat was a copy of the real one in heaven . the real mercy seat in heaven needed a better offering so God conceived himself in Mary the granddaughter of King David and is and was with out sin and so the Son of David i.e. “ Lord of David” took His own blood was sprinkled upon the mercy seat in heaven once and for all for atonement of sin for all who believe. Thus fulfilling the scriptures

Jews are still required to make animal sacrifices to get into Heaven and God sacrificed his son in order for the Christians not to have to make those sacrifices.

Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice, because He Himself knew no sin. He is the perfect Son of God.

He not only suffered physically, but spiritually and emotionally too.

He took the sin of the whole world and felt it all.

There is no comparison in the suffering he went through for us.

having your skin torn of you while your still alive is torture.. Jesus was sin free he didnt desevre a single thing thats a sacrifice

Just like if you are to kill a lamb as a sacrific the lamb had done nothing

Just be greatful that he was nailed up there with the sin of the world and all he could think about was you, that this was your chance to make it to heaven

At the last supper Jesus changed the sacrificing of animals back to the sacrifice of Melcesadec (fruit of the vine, and grain).

He didn't just do it for himself though. He is Gods son so he didn't need to do it to go to heaven. He was good enough to do it from the start. He did it so we could go to heaven not so he could. It is therefore a sacrifice.
