I've wondered this at times. When Jesus came to earth, He fulfilled many of the prophecies concerning Him. He was either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord of all creation as He claimed to be. With His fulfillment of prophecies written up to thousands of years before He arrived on earth, with the miracles and healings He did, and with the evidence of extranormal powers and character in the followers He left behind on earth, why is it hard for most Jews to believe that the Man who came down to earth 2,000 years ago is indeed their Christ?

Jesus did not fit the "job description" of the Messiah. He did not fulfill the messianic prophecies.

We have many accounts of people performing miracles, including resurrecting the dead.

Performing miracles does not make someone God; Performing miracles has nothing to do with the Messiah. The Messiah's job is to gather Israel and bring world peace.

The Bible warns clearly against following a "prophet" merely because he can perform miracles, or attempts to change the law from Mt. Sinai:

Deuteronomy 13:1 The entire word that I command you, that shall you observe to do; you shall not add to it and you shall not subtract from it. [2] If there should stand up in your midst a prophet or a dreamer of a dream, and he will produce to you a sign or a wonder, [3] and the sign or the wonder comes about, of which he spoke to you, saying "Let us follow gods of others that you did not know and we shall worship them!7quot; [4] do not hearken to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of a dream, for HASHEM, your G-d, is testing you to know whether you love HASHEM, your G-d with all your heart and with all your soul. [5] HASHEM, your G-d, shall you follow and Him shall you fear; His commandments shall you observe and to His voice shall you hearken; Him shall you serve and to Him shall you cleave. [6] And that prophet and that dreamer of a dream shall be put to death, for he had spoken perversion against HASHEM, your G-d Who takes you out of the land of Egypt, and Who redeems you from the house of slavery to make you stray from the path on which HASHEM, you G-d, has commanded you to go; and you shall destroy the evil from your midst.

I would just like to clarifty what swapan42k said. First of all Christians believe jesus is the reincarniation of God in human form, and the holy ghost which they refer to as the trinity. Second Buddhist do not believe Buddha is God, Muslims definately do not believe the prophet Muhammad is God, believe it or not they believe God is God. Muslims would never pray to Muhammad. In Islam, Abraham is a prophet, Moses is a prophet, Noah is a prophet and yes even Jesus is a prophet in the Islamic religion. They would never pray to Jesus or Muhammad because worshipping anyone but god is a sin.

Oh, and to answer the question, the reason Jews do not believe Jesus is God is because jesus didn't fulfill all of the prophecies. These prophecies are either true or false, yes or no, you can't be a 50% messiah. That just doesn't count.

look at your Question and you will know why! you said "that Jesus WAS God"

was >> past tense.
so what happened to God? am i supposed to think that the Creator of the universe came down from heaven to be killed for Christians and then resurrected from the dead and went back to heaven?

why would the Almighty God sacrifice himself/his son when he made it CLEAR in the old testament that he HATES human sacrifice!
and dont you think it's a little exaggerated by Christians to think that they are the ONLY ones going to heaven through the phony salvation plan that was made up by some blasphemous person?

it's mind boggling discussing religion with Christians because they think that the bible is soooo absolutely 100% right when they have 70+ different bibles!!

the church corrupted the message in a way that has never seen before in any religion it's not even funny. that's why Christianity is so divided and they condemn each others to hell.?!!

remember that the early churches NEVER claimed Jesus to be Divine. only when the council of Nausea got involved is when Christianity was corrupted.

peace.

Very super good point. I love it.

They didn't believe then, with Jesus Christ right among them, so why would they afterwords or even now? The only way they could is if they opened their hearts to the Spirit of God and let it impress upon them the truth, but because of pride and the false teachings of their forefathers they will not. There are few who do change, but they are few and very special and unique indeed.

The Jews were the most wicked people at that time and the only people capable of killing their own Lord and Savior, that is why he was born a Jew (besides they were a chosen but mislead and gone astray people of God) was because Heavenly Father's son needed to be of the chosen people but also among a people capable and corrupt enough to kill their own Savior.

It is because of what Christians have done in the name of Christ, for centuries, to the Jews that causes this. This is why some Jews have a very difficult time trusting a Christian.

Also the Pharisee had a part in it as well. The Pharisee's influence has never departed from the Jews, so we were raised with that distrust.

I am a Jewish follower of the Messiah by the way.

in the present day, there are between 14 and 15 million Jews international. Of that huge sort, approximately a hundred and fifty,000 have faith Jesus (Yeshua) is the Messiah, the Son of God. So your pastor is erroneous that "maximum" have faith. besides the fact that, Scripture is obvious that everybody Jews who're alive on the time of Yeshua's 2nd Coming would be believers. people who do have faith opt to be referred to as "Messianic Jews" as a substitute of Christians. And to the different, believing in Yeshua as Messiah does not get rid of their "Jewishness." below the Mosaic regulation, a Jew who worships a god different than the single actual God is to be solid removed from the human beings; she or he's no longer seen a Jew. yet because of the fact that Yeshua isn't a distinctive God, a Jew who believes in Him continues to be a Jew.

The rest of Israel were blinded (Rom11:7-8 below) to the truth that Jesus is the Messiah.

At the Sixth SEAL (Re.6:12-17), when the fullness of the Gentiles comes in, Israel will know that Jesus is the Messiah (Rom.11:25 below).

Rom.11:7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (Rom.11:25 below)

Rom.11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

Rom.11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel (Rom.11:7-8 above), until the fulness of the Gentiles (1 Thess.4:5, Eph.2:12) be come in.

First of all Jesus never claimed to be God (this is not in the bible). Jesus claimed he was the son of God. Jews do not believe Jesus Christ was God because of Numbers 23:19. Additionally, The Messiah or the Christ of the bible is not a God. Jesus was made to be The God during the Council of N.

Yes, they should have accepted him, im not sure why. But I know that the rabbis at the time were trying to hold on to power. Also they believe he was a bastard son of a prostitute (since they did not believe mary when she said she gave a virgin birth).

swapan42k writes:

"Muslims believe MUHAMMAD was GOD"

You are seriously uneducated for saying that, muslims believe Mohammad was a PROPHET of god, the same with jesus moses, noah etc.
