There has been debate that Adam may have not been the first man, because the Hebrew word for "Adam" and "Man" are interchangeable. So when God brethed the breath "of life into Adam he (Adam) became a living soul". This could mean humans were already alive on the earth, who could have been the wives of Adam's descendents. One clue to support this idea is when Cain was banished to roam the earth, he was afraid people would kill him, suggesting they weren't the only people.

Another idea is that Adam and Eve had daughters that married their sons, since there weren't any other people to marry. Since the Mosaic law was not in effect yet, this wouldn't have been incest, according to this theory.

Or how the wives of Adam's sons came about may be something not mentioned in the Bible. It could be God created more people.

You'll come across things in the Bible that are curious. Corrie Ten Boom once said when you come across a verse in the Bible that you understand, just be patient, and the meaning will come to you.

ROFLMAO
Gen1 describes the creation of man all the races on the 6th day
(remember god has said a 1000 years is like unto 1 day and 1 day 1000 years)
Gen2 on the 7th day he rested (1000 years) after the 7th day he creates THE Adam on the 8th day (about 2000 years latter)

The text
Gen 1
27 And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. - see the THEM more than 1 assume more than 1 set

31 And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Done on the 6th day

Gen 2
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made.
The 7th day is now over

7 And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
If this on the 8th day is to be the first man what the hell happened to them created on the 6th day???? Come on use some wisdom this is THE Adam not an Adam of the 6th.

Adam and Eve had many generations of children, and so inter-marrying took place. It was not until the Levictical law was having sexual relations with close relatives forbidden.

Which ever way you think about it - even in a broader sense, we all come from one family - Adam and Eve's.

Cane and Abel were the firs 2 kids of adam and eve. Adam lifed to be 900 years old, he could have allot of kids in 900 years, so obviously they married their sisters, at that time there was no law against it, and their sisters were the only females on the planet.

It doesn't really say where exactly Cain's wife came from. Just how Cain & Abel were born.

Read Genesis 4

16And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

17And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth, for she said, "God has appointed[g] for me another offspring instead of Abel, for Cain killed him." 26To Seth also a son was born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time people began to call upon the name of the LORD.

It seems to me that the story of Adam & Eve...were simply a figure of speech. He choose one man & a woman to continue his legacy or teachings. When a 6yr. old child asks you where do children come from...no one says " well ...flirtation, penetration,releasing........sperm meets egg. Fertilizes egg, becomes embryo..explains in detail gestation period & 9mo. later you get a baby." You explain in the language & level they can understand. And that's how I see the Story of Adam & Eve.

Adam and Eve had many children and they married their sisters . since they didnt have any law binding them from getting married to blood relations. So , the humanity belongs to one family of Adam and Eve , inspite of whatever religion, caste, race we belong to.

Of course their own children.
Back then it wasn't wrong. Cultures and societies always change as man changes. It was NECESSARY back then, a sin and disgusting and messed up now. That was thousands of years ago! It was normal! Now it isn't! Give time a break and think about it. It was "Multiply and replenish" the earth back then as it is now but they had to find anyone of the opposite sex in order to keep this commandment but now days we don't need to or have to (or want to, hopefully) multiply with our siblings or cousins! (lol gross!)
