Photoshop help!?

I clicked a button a few days ago on photoshop, i dont know which, and now everytime i open a new image/layer to work with, in the left top corner, there's a number and a small rectangle with zigzags in it. There is also a blue line around the image. it's really starting to annoy me, how do i get rid of it?

You've got 'Show Slices' on.
View > Show > Slices

Click on help and also check out tutor. Those photo programs drive me crazy. You probably accidently clicked on a command and can't get out.
