Soak your thumb in warm water for a few minutes. This will loosen the skin and the pricks. If the pricks don't come right out, put some tape (scotch tape, masking tape, electrical tape -- whatever kind you have) on your freshly-soaked thumb and peel the tape off slowly; the tape should pull the pricks out of loosened skin quite easily.

If you have some epsom salt, add a little to the water before soaking your thumb; the salt will help loosen the skin and the pricks even better!

option:

A) put your thumb in your mouth and try sucking the pricks out.

B) take a small knife and skim over the top of your thumb.

C) endure the pain and be a man until you can find some tweezers.

(and don't listen to the "jessy" person. you DONT need to go to the doctor just to get some cactus pricks out of your thumb.)

If its truly cactus, pour cooking oil all over the area and leave on the for a few minutes. The needles should come out easily under warm water.

Try soaking the area in very sudsy water for about 5-10 mins....should help loosen the debri. Water temp should be warm not hot.

If continues to stay embedded may wish to have a medical person look at it to prevent infection.

Take a sharp knife or credit card & scrape it against your thumb in the same direction as the splinters. This will pull them out without pain.

You can try to spread some wood glue on your finger and let it dry for about 1 hour.

When the glue dries, it should stick to the slivers and pull them out.

It works for wood...can't say I've tried it on cactus though.

I read somewhere that if you put on regular white school glue on the area& let it dry.

When the glue has dried pull it off & they should come out.

Why don't you simply go out and buy some precision tweezers?
