Everyday...everywhere I go, I am surrounded by immigrants, that are not US citizens...mostly Somalians. I am not racist in any way, shape, or form, but I am extremely aggravated. How can these people be here living legally in the US, receiving public assistance, and free medical care while we teach them English?
I really NEED to know, and every letter I write to our Senators, and Congress men go unanswered.
I am so deeply troubled in this realization, because I am married to a Canadian citizen. He does not really want to live here but he wants to support my girls and me, until we can legally go to Canada. He is banned from US soil. Immigration legalities have us separated. He has a clean background and no medical problems. He would not be a burden on our society, unlike the immigrants I see crowding the welfare offices.
I don't understand these laws...and even the lawyers are clueless. I miss my husband. This is so extremely painful. I just want to understand. It makes no sense.
On another note...at this time, I cannot immigrate to Canada either. It's a spendy process which literally takes years.

The whole system is warped. That's why I will never blame legals or illegals. The politicians are just at lost in the whole mess they put us all in and sadly, life isn't fair any which way.
All I can say is never give up. Good luck!

Oddly enough there is a quota system for immigration - they only allow so many people from a certain country immigrate to the US every year on various types of visas. Countries that are more under represented (like Somalia) get more preferential treatment than countries like Canada.
Also there are a variety of Visas available - H1B for some technical speciality, standard work visas, student visas, etc.
Your husband should explore all the various options and see if he can't get into the US on one of the other visa options.

I live next to a retired immigration employee. She has taught me a lot about our system. I am sorry your husband is having trouble and I see you reason for the comments you made. However it is a working process and once dealt with properly you can get him here. It is not that diffcult but once a door closes you must knock on another.
As for immigration.... I am the 2nd generation of Irish immigrants and I am proud to be an American as are the people migrating today. This is a country of immigrants and the Mexican, Indian population were here before us. SO were many Canadians, I am greatful my grandmother was thinking this far ahead for me.So be happy for those who have made it, and pray for those yet to come.

That completely sucks! All I can say is even the polititions don't understand immigration. As far as legal aliens go, it seems like you have to be in the right place at the right time. Usually you have to have some connections and there has to be a war in your country!

What's going on seems to be the same thing as when they did busing, before. Deliberate social engineering, integrating people together and so forth. Read about globalization and all the 'fun' that that has led to. This link might help.

I don't understand why you are having such a hard time getting him over here....My husband got residency within a year....He got his green card with in three months....Perhaps you were not able to sponsor him? I know you have to show, employment for the last couple of years, to show you can sponsor/support him....Also, my brother in law moved to Canada legally and it took him about two years....He had no sponsor....
As far as immigrants go, they are all over the US....China, Philippines, Mexico and all of the Americas, India, Lebanon,
the list goes on and on.....This is a land of immigrants, I suggest you get used to it! They are here to stay...

Somolia is on the Asylum list because of how bad that country had become. Why is your husband banned? The process to get my husband here from the UK was hard, but he wasn't banned.......
