I tried hypnotherapy and it worked for a while but freaked me out a bit. It left me unable to put my hands anywhere near my mouth, like pushing 2 magnets together! I've tried the paint on stuff too and that doesn't work, I get used to the taste long enough to lick it off! Usually keeping them painted works, but I'm training as a health professional & need to keep my nails neat and polish is a big no no. I'm determined to crack it, because if my hands have tiny cuts or whatever from biting I'm more at risk of infection.
Please help me with some sensible suggestions :)

Sometimes we develop bad habits that is very hard to break.

Do you bite your nails and not realize you're doing it? If so, you need to train yourself to realize that you're about to bite them and then stop yourself. .. Such as the moment you taste your nail polish, stop.

You could try geting false nails put on, not the ones you but that you do yourself but by a professional, it lets you see how wonderful your hands look and that could just be enough to stop you biting them when the false nails come off. I stopped biting my nails in my thirties it worked for me

I'm 34 and i still do it. I bite mine and pick them its so annoying. I wish i could stop. don't know why i do it as I'm not nervous about anything.
I'm getting married next year and i would like them to look better by then.
I remember at primary school they used to dip the pencils in a clear varnish that tasted disgusting in order to stock the kids from chewing the pencils, that wouldn't work cos I pick mine as well as bite them.

I was sitting with a person once and they were biting their nails - ya bad habit - but they ended up breaking their tooth in the process.

So ask yourself - is biting your nails worth risking breaking a tooth for - and if you are with people a broken tooth would really be embarrassing.

I stopped biting my nails when I got a boyfriend it encouraged me to stop.
If you feel the need to chew try chewing on a straw,or sugarfree gum.Or find a constructive hobby where you have to go hands on and dirty e.g gardening, fixing cars, child care

I used to bite my nails until I started getting my nails done. Have nails put on and keep them looking nice. You'll receive lots of comments how nice they look.

Do not aim for perfection.
Carry a nail scissors and / or nail file everywhere with you.
