It came with a 32MB Sandisk SD card, then when I ordered the same exact brand, but 1GB, he got an error message in a red band right across the view screen that said, "This card cannot be used." Is there a max. size card that the camera can use? I'm baffled.

I found some specs online for this camera that says it will only accept up to a 512mb card. You might check with Gateway to be sure.

Here's the link I found:

I really don't think that any camera would have trouble with different sized cards. They're all made to read them. Sandisk is notorious for being rather unreliable (as well as having awful customer service). I've had a bad experience with them, and so have many, many other people. I'm willing to bet that it's simply a problem with the actual card.

I'd take it back and try a different brand. If it still doesn't work, I'd be pretty surprised.

It particularly relies upon on the commonly used of each and every image. for instance, a 5 megapixel digicam will save photos at approximately 500Kb somewhat. so which you may get around 2000 of those on a 1Gb memory card.
