We have been invited to attend a dinner to celebrate Diwali at Hindu friends. I know a little about Diwali, but am unsure of what I am expected to bring for my hosts. Will I be expected to bring presents? What sort of things would be suitable?

Diwali is so cool! It's the festival of light so expect fireworks! I would just take some nice sweets over. It's a great festival and I am sure you will enjoy it.

Hmmm, actually you don't need to bring more sweets since the the host will have a lot already to start with... Just bring yourself as they will appreciate you for coming in the first place... Enjoy the muruku...

Get something to keep on their house - a art effect like thing... They will adore it...

Dewali is about light from what I know - They light a lot of lamps on this day - Why not give a Lamp - some thing nice.

LOCALLY MADE SWEETS SPECIALLY MADE FOR THE OCCASION. AN ASSORTMENT IN TWO BOXES, UP TO A KILOGRAM EACH.

IF THE FRIEND HAS KIDS, MAYBE TOYS FOR THEM.

BUT SWEETS DEFINITELY.

NO PRESENTS NEEDED REALLY. JUST TAKE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE SWEETS, IF YOU WISH. THATS WHAT WE DO. A HINDU.
