I agree with the previous poster who recommended getting rid of the sweets. If it's a problem with him, then don't have them in the house. He'll adjust, and it may make everyone in the family healthier anyway. (or if you're like me, get creative with your hiding places LOL) If you WANT sweets in the home, try things like reduced sugar snacks and mix it up with fresh fruit.
I'm with you that I hope he calms down in class. Often children are complete opposites at school than they are at home, not always though. Have you thought about getting him into a tumbling or karate class? Something that is fun, you can observe, and gets him moving?
Good luck! I have four kids myself and my middle sounds very similar.

Have no lollies in the house. Turn off the t.v. Take him off all artificial colours and you will notice a change. He can only eat lollies if you buy them so it is simple. STOP buying them. You are the parent and he is 4! if you have no control now you will struggle forever with him.
School will not calm him down if he is hyper all that will happen is you will be at the school quite often talking to the teacher on his behaviour. Hyperactivity can often be bought on by foods. Get the book FED UP and follow the recommendations. Here is a link for it

Sounds like my middle child. She is hyper, loud and wants to eat sweets all day. Take away the tv and video games. Be as involved with him as you can. My little girl started preschool a couple of weeks ago and I have noticed a difference. She is much more polite. Don't worry, in time he will calm down and be a great kid!

YOU are the parent. Just because he WANTS to do these things doesn't mean he gets to. Sounds to me as if the reason he IS loud and hyper is because he eats sweets all day long. Remove the sugary treats, stop giving into what he wants. TELL him to go outside and play, turn the television OFF, unplug the television, unplug the cable. Watching television is not a child's right it should be a privlige, something children earn by behaving, and they certainly shouldn't be exposed to it all day long, just because they want to. It's your job to make sure he gets outside and does somethin other than sit and vegitate in front of the television.

Often they don't really calm down until they're about 11.
Be careful about people telling you there's something "wrong" with him...
There is a wide range of normal.
He's only four he is in the process of learning.
You can do a lot by guiding him in the right direction.

He is young still and probably doesn't like sharing the lime light.I wouldn't worry about it.Kids go through phases.I bet that when he starts school,he will find himself and make friends. And then you will have a new worry. It never ends.

Cut the sweets and if he won't talk to you about whats going on look around there is probably someone who can get to the bottom of it.
