Is 'Roadkill' a 'brand'.

It is free, nutritious, and widely available in most areas.

I always try and feed my dogs a premium brand food. I was feeding them NRG dehydrated food for a while and my labX started acting a lot bouncier and very playful, but my other dog got tired of it after a year and so I started feeding them Innova EVO now. My lab is still full of energy, she's 10 yrs old and acts just as bouncy and playful as my 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 yr old Shih-tzus. I used to feed her Iams before I switched her to a better brand of food 4 yrs ago, and I can't believe the difference it has made on her health. The premium brands may cost a little more per bag, but they eat way less of it. (my small 10 yr old 37 lbs LabX only eats 1 cup of kibble a day and she is not skinny - she's actually a little on the plump side. My little 1 1/2 yr old and 2 1/2 yr old 12 - 15 lb Shih-tzus eat 3/4 of a cup of kibble a day - they're younger and have lots more energy to burn)

I like feeding them a food that has no grains, no fillers like corn, has natural preservatives, no added salt and no by-products; and the most important thing to look for in a food is that it lists meat as the first ingredient.

Some great brands that I like are (I'm sure there are some other great brands that I may have missed, but these are the 1st ones that come to mind when thinking of excellent foods):

Innova
Canidae
Solid Gold
Wellness
California Natural
Natural Balance
Timberwolf
Fromm
Natures Variety

I have been feeding Canidae for the past 2 1/2 years, and my dogs have never been in such robust good health! I have always fed premium brands..but this Canidae is sumthin' else! My old dogs are acting as pups..their blood work is that of a 4-5 year old..and their teeth are absolutely clean..
Other great brands are Innova, Solid Gold, Wysong, Wellness and Natural Balance..
I save about 23% over feeding Eukenuba, and that doesn't count the savings in vet bills, especially teeth cleaning..A healthy old age is priceless!

Price is of little concern to me.I try to give my dogs the best I can so they'll stay happy and healthy as long as possible.
Unfortuneately for me I have a very picky dog.The best food in this house is the one both will eat
Iams,Science Diet,Nutro,Natures Choice and a few others I can't recall but basically about every premium brand PetSmart sells my dogs won't touch. The trash can eats more than they do.Right now they're eating Beneful which is my stand-by.I usually mix a little in with other, better quality foods to get them to eat but they've taken to eating it and leaving the other.

Iams, science diet, pet pro. Depending on your dog, I would call the vets office and ask what would he use to feed your dog. Most dog foods that are a reliable brand is a good one. never use a generic brand or stuff that is loaded with sulfites and preservatives and colorings.

I have given my dogs Eukanuba, IAMS, Pedigree, Formula 1, Pro Plan and Science Diet. Right now my dog, a Dalmatian, is on Science Diet for she is overweight. She loves it like mad.

our vet and our puppy trainer said definitely DONT get any kibble thats top ingredient is corn or anything like that... you want to get kibble thats number 1 ingredient is chicken, lamb, etc.. look at the ingredients on the back.. the top couple ingredients shouldnt be corn.. they said it makes them go to the bathroom and they dont get as many nutrients.. prime 1 and nutro both have meat as the main ingredient.. beneful, iams, etc have corn.. just look at the back label..
