we had just moved to the South,and ppl asked where i was from? i told them,I was from Utah,and they would look beyond/past/around me for any other wives. it was annoying,then funny, now it is annoying.... this has happened alot, in the 6 years we have been here....

Or maybe after 6 years you both could say your from "(name of city of the south here)" where your children were born?
You are a southern couple now. Your roots are now with your children, in the city you now live, a southern city.
Also, it's a white lie, and you may not like it - but say your from Nevada, or "the West" if asked, by strangers. If asked by friends give detailed answer, of course, but why the joke? They've know you for awhile. Not everyone is Mormon are they in Utah? (Could be Southerners are slow?) NO! Just kiddin'.
