It depends on which antidepressant is prescribed. Some works on raising serotonin which is also created by sunlight but some people can't absorb enough. Some raise other chemicals in our brains that for some reason can't be produced naturally. To know for sure you would have to ask the doctor who prescribed the medication or the pharmacist. All antidepressants work differently and some people respond to one class of antidepressant while others don't. Sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error to find the right drug or combination of drugs that work.

i agree cool breeze...effoxer xr working good for me so far.i have a real hard time getting up on time for work and when i take these its a little harder to go to sleep but i dio get up a little eaiser...But ive tried over 15 diffrent anti depressents.i can only take 37.5 mg of the effexor xr more than that and i cant sleep..Some are uppers and some are downers.its like trial and error till you get the right 1..But dont listen when they say there not addictive because if you stop takeing certain ones cold turkey you will have terriable side effects..trust me i no..i tried anafrnil and it made me mad as hel*

Anafranil I've took about 8 and it's the only one that did work and it's great.

ZANAX , the other that helps me has been illegal since Harry Anslinger past legistlation making it a criminal offense to have in 1912 , it used to grow wild , marijuana .
