Absolutely the most important thing in a relationship is FOCUS. Focus in life, or a similar worldview. If two people are not heading in the same direction in life, the relationship cannot progress. Either one will have to adjust to fit the others, or the relationship is bound to fail. Finding someone headed in a similar direction as you (i.e. faith, mission in life) will make the relationship more successful.

Communication, because it keeps things real, and the two of you connected... Honesty, because it keeps things true... If you're going to be with, and love someone, be sure they know who you are, and be sure that it's someone that you want to know deeply... Love deeply, and honestly... Work at it every day... Don't let years, and years go by without knowing who you're with... And sharing, and building a life together... And if you don't love them, set them free so that they can find someone who does...

Common interests. My hubby and I share so many common interests. We always enjoy being together and doing things together. When the initial passion goes, and it eventually will, you will be bored with each other if you don't like doing the same things together. Enjoying doing things together helps keep the romance alive.
