Actual Scripture:

(2 Samuel 1:26)

(David Speaking)
I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasand hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

So if anyone knows the real story or where I can find it, that'd be great. I'm not looking for political or religious views of homosexuality, i'm simply doing research, please keep your opinions to yourself. Thanks

They were best friends...

You may have heard of David. The story of him killing the mighty giant warrior Goliath with a slingshot is very well known. David was only a shepherd boy but after he killed Goliath he was immediately famous throughout Israel. Saul, the King of Israel, had not had to fight Goliath because David had volunteered, so he took David into his household. It was a new way of life and David became friendly with Saul's son, Jonathan.

They became very close - like blood brothers or soul-mates. Best friends. But Saul started to become jealous of David because he was so popular with the people. So jealous was he that he started to plot to have David killed. Jonathan was horrified at what his father was doing. How could his father want to kill his best and closest friend! He tried to warn David and protect him.

It all became too much. So David and Jonathan made a pact of eternal friendship, swearing loyalty to each other - something so strong that nothing could ever destroy it. Then Jonathan, the dutiful son, went back to his father and David went on his way, later becoming King of Israel himself. When Jonathan was killed in battle, David wrote a poem about Saul and Jonathan saying how sorry he was. You can read it in the Bible (2 Samuel 1:17-27). He finishes his poem: 'I am distressed about this, Jonathan my brother. You were so good to me and we enjoyed a great friendship.'

Jonathan loved David as his own soul (1 Sam 18:1-3)

Jonathan was the son of King Saul, The Israelites first king. David was anointed to be the next king and was a man after GOD's own heart.

Jonathan and David were not into an alternate lifestyle, for David was the one who wrote "Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee."

When Jonathan and his father, King Saul were killed in battle, David grieved immensely for the loss of his best friend, who had saved his life by revealing King Saul's plan to murder David out of jealousy.

When David came to the throne, he looked for a descendant of King Saul and Jonathan and eventually found a crippled boy who came to live in his own household, because of the friendship between David and Jonathan.

calvinsnashville,
They were extremely close friends. They loved each other. Jonathan protected and warned David about his father wanting to kill him. It was a very close friendship, almost with a gay connotation. Why?

lol

EDIT: How does ANYONE know that they weren't sexual? True, we don't know that they weren't, but that's the point. I think that the point is: It doesn't matter. David had faith, and the relationship that they had is history. You that doubt me can stuff your religious bias, they could have been, they might not have been. God and David were inseparable. It simply had no bearing on God and David as it would mean that faith is the key to salvation and the relatiuonship between God and man. David was a murderer. Cold and diabolical. Why would Gay be worse? Hmmmmm?

They were like brothers. Johnathan saved David's life when Saul was trying to kill him.

The Bible does say that David loved Jonathan more than women. (I'm para phasing.) It is talking about the purest form of love, a spiritual, nonsexual love. (It is the way that God loves us.)

People that confuse lust with love try to make something evil out of their relationship. However, there is no evidence that their relationship was ever sexual.
