I filed a chargeback with my credit card company Capital One. I sent the items back, provided proof of delivery. Capital One issued a temp credit, then months later retracted credit and told me they were no longer handling my chargeback and that the company VISA itself was handling it? They could not provide any more information said to wait 45 days, that VISA would contact me, and that the case with Capital One is closed? Ive filed chargebacks and never heard of anything so odd. And the item in question was like $1100

You need to follow up on this.

I used to work fraud for a large credit card company and it sounds like they have a question about the merchandise being returned, mainly for the amount.

If you can provide them with proof of returned merchandise, you are entitled to the credit by Capital One.

I suggest if they refuse to cooperate, get a lawyer involved or take them to Small Claims Court where you don't need an attorney.

I disagree about Capital One. They are not the easiest to deal with. I had a charge back with them before. I had written them as required. The company did not claim the item as they were supposed to so Capital One would not issue me a credit even though I contacted the company (Oreck) several times and asked them to send required label for shipping.

I would persevere with following up w/ Capital one. So many people say they are SO strict, but I have found that out of all (citicorp, WaMu, Chase, Bank one) they are without a doubt the coolest to deal with. They have the best customer service, so keep asking them; I feel very certain they will help you
