the second link below in my sources gives your processing times...but the times depending on where he is filing, how many people he files for, how much you make etc.... many factors play into it....but normally it does not take long, My husband sponsored me, which gets #1 priority, I also applied for a work permit and travel documents until the paperwork was processed....I was in the USA though on a valid visa (which allowed me to stay for another 3 years anyhow) so we had no rush, the whole thing with the interview took 9 months, i have heard they can take years, but since your mom is un married it should not be more than 1-2 yrs. my dads brother is sponsoring him, and they say it can take more than 10 years

I just started mine through Marriage. I am Canadian and married to an American. First you have to start with the 1-130 form. Its a petition to keep or get a family member in the US. It can to be approved or denied. If it's approved, then there is so much more after that it's overwhelming. Most people go to an immigration lawyer once they start. I'm still waiting on my I 130. They said it taked 4 to 8 weeks to hear anything, then I have to go for Biomedics (fingerprinting, etc) and I will get called in for interviews, make sure I am really married, for legit reasons, etc.

I believe he needs to earn an income of at least $36,000 a year before he can sponsor anyone into the US. Hourly that averages $17.50 for a 40 hour work week. The income needs to be established and maintained at least one or two years.

If you need advise, the best place to go on the internet is:
http://discuss.ilw.com/eve/ubb.x?a=frm&s=691603441&f=902603441

they have the best message board you can sign up for, they also do chats with lawyers. you can ask anyone for what you need there, but don't lie, they will find you out if you are not honest about your situation.
