I think u r asking about adenoids.

adenoids are a mass of tissue, located in the passage that connects the back of the nasal cavity to the throat.

Adenoids — which are also called nasopharyngeal tonsils but are separate from the tonsils in the throat

their function— filter out bacteria and viruses entering through the nose and produce antibodies to help the body fight infections

adenoids trap germs that enter a child's body, adenoid tissue sometimes temporarily swells as it tries to fight off an infection. There are several symptoms associated with enlarged adenoids. You may notice that your child:

-complains of difficulty breathing through the nose
-is breathing through the mouth
-talks as if his or her nostrils are pinched
-breathes noisily
-snores while sleeping
-stops breathing for a few seconds while sleeping (called sleep apnea)

Remedy is surgery mostly, so when is it necessary?
--If enlarged or infected adenoids keep bothering your child and medicines (antibiotics etc) doesn't stop them from coming back
--may be recommended if your child experiences one or more of the following:
1.difficulty breathing
2.sleep apnea
3.recurrent infections

Surgery is especially important when repeated infections lead to sinus and ear infections. Badly swollen adenoids can interfere with ear pressure and fluid movement, which can sometimes lead to hearing loss. Therefore, kids whose infected adenoids cause frequent earaches and fluid buildup may need to get an adenoidectomy as well as ear tube surgery.

Do you mean "adenoid"?
Adenoidectomy is most often performed because of nasal obstruction, but is also performed to reduce middle ear infections and fluid (otitis media). The procedure is often carried out at the same time as a tonsillectomy, since the adenoids can be clearly seen and assessed by the surgeon at that time. Adenoidectomy is also performed on patients who have chronic ear infections caused by the adenoids blocking the eustachian tube.
Adenoidectomy is the surgical removal of the adenoids. They are removed if they block breathing through the nose and if they cause chronic earaches or deafness. The surgery is common; recovery time is painful and lasts from 2 to 3 days.

Have you tried the obvious like a cup of hillocks (malted drink) or warm milk before bed or an hour before you want to drop of, also if you eat a lot of lettuce this has a chemical in it which can cause drowsiness. Have a warm bath before retiring and make sure your bedroom is nice and cool. Lay of any caffeine or energy products, try exercising no later than 3 hours before you need to sleep. Try to reduce stress from your life, and maybe buy a lavender oil burner and light it half an hour before you want some shut eye. Try to get into a regular routine of going to bed at the same time each day, even if it means missing out on as much fun at the weekends, try not to get overtired in the first place. If all that fails then try an anti-histamine which can cause drowsiness as a side effect and help induce sleep. Don't use alcohol as an aid to sleep as your sleep will be more shallow and you will not awaken refreshed
