At least yours lives in a separate state. Mine lives too close for comfort, and we are moving as soon as I can afford to. I have dealt with her fake suicide attempts to get attention or to punish us when she doesn't get her way, her drinking, her stupid decisions when it comes to men, her lack of maturity, her criminal behavior, and the fact that she never, not for one moment, cared about her kids more than herself. She is a sociopath, and she does not love me.
My issue is that when she dies, I and my brother will both be happy and relieved. She abused and neglected us so much when we were kids, and has put us through so much since, that I don't even feel guilty about feeling that way.

My mom is a wheeling problem! Everything from abusive relationships and irrational guilt trips to mental illness and drug addictions. Not to mention indecisiveness, constant complaining. She thinks the world owes her something but she has not given much of herself in return. She abandoned me when I was 6. She left me for her boyfriend and drugs. He only wanted her for her money. She deals drugs to my younger cousins and sends them out to buy drugs for her. She sells her perscription meds to buy shoes and clothes for her boyfriend's kids. She's been in and out of mental institutions several times. She barely sees her own grandson because I don't want her around when she is high. She killed my brother and amost killed me in a car accident. I am so greatful I have such wonderful grandparent though and I remind myself that I did not choose my mother. I am not a reflection or immitation of her. I lover her for not having an abortion.

Are you kidding?!! EVERYBODY has issues! The point IS, how GOOD each of us are- at handling them. I feel bad for your Mom- & I'm sure you must be worried sick about her. But HER issues, and YOUR worrying about them- is not going to change a THING to help the situation- until something positive occurs to improve it. And it's up to either one of you- to figure out what THAT is... Good luck...

Ahhh geez. I was there more than once, years ago. PLEASE look at your kids when you feel like this and think...what will happen to them if I'm not here? It was the only thing that saved me for a while. Please hang in there, email me if you need someone to talk to!
