Terrorism is a tactic of war. It is a safe bet that every side in every war practices terrorism to some extent.

Today, we mostly think of Islamic terrorism against the west, but the fact is that most Muslims do not engage in, believe in, or condone terrorism.

In Northern Ireland, a bloody civil war raged for a long time between Catholics and Protestants, both of whom engaged in terrorist acts against the other. Yet, again, most Christians of either side do not engage in, believe in, or condone terrorism.

When Japan was an imperial power that invaded its neighbors, Shinto was used as a justification for terrorism, but it is a safe bet that most Shintoists do not engage in, believe in, or condone terrorism.

In the U.S. Civil War, both North and South engaged in terrorism against the other. Sherman's March is a particularly horrifying example of a government waging war against a civilian population. Yet, most people North or South do not engage in, believe in, or condone terrorism.

Again, the fact is that terrorism -- taking action to strike terror into a civilian populace rather than against a military foe -- is a commonplace tactic in all wars. All sides have used it, including the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, Libya, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Vietnam, Japan, China, Peru, Panama, and so on. Terrorism is about power.

There are no major religions that endorse terrorism. There are extremists in a lot of religions (Islam and Christianity to name a few) that do resort to terrorism. The majority of the people that practice those religions aren't terrorists, though.

terrorismm has no religion, no country, no creed. the religion of terroris is terrorism.terrorists can be categorized as 1. religious terrorists like tALi-bans, al qaida, lashkar e taiba 2. ideological terrorists like Maoists in India, Nepal, Colombia 3. freedom fighters branded as terrorists like Palestinians.their brains were conditioned by their leaders and they have lost rational thinking and adopted policies of hatred, violence. they don't know what they are doing. imperialist forces use them as pawns.that is why in iraq, india, pakisthan, religious terrorists attacked their fellow religionists and did not spare even children and old men. the LTTE killed many moderate tamil leaders.if all peace loving forces unite and denounce terrorism and do not give either overt or covert support to them only arrest the growth of terrorists.

terrorists don't have a religion, just the need to kill- and they don't care who, as long as the bodies are there. women, children, what does it matter? dead is still dead. the more bodies, the more they celebrate.
