It's simple they want the bribe, and there is no law stating that if the passport is issued from another city and you are denied the boarding from another city; Hyderabad Airport is International airport and so is Mumbai, New Delhi, Calcutta, so traveller can travel from any city to international destination.

Do you have a valid visa for Sharjah? If so then there is nothing to worry and still you find the problem with them, tell them you want to meet someone superior of head of Immigration.

Indian Immigration is always nightmare either you enter the country or you leave the country.
